Best "High End" Moisturiser.......

I've just bought some very gorgeous Dior make up with some Debenhams vouchers. I usually get my make up from Avon, No7 etc so it's a real treat for me.

As it's my birthday soon I might ask for a posh moisturiser ( now I'm all posh like)

My skin is classic combination and I'm 47 in a month so starting to show a few lines.

Any ideas?

My current moisturiser is from Aldi.

I love the Lancôme Genefique range.

At £74 a pot, this isn't cheap but it's the beat moisturising product I've used. www.willowbeautyproducts.co.uk/organic-skin-care/moisturisers/advanced-intense-repair-cream.html

If you've got money to splash on skincare I'd spend it on everything except a moisturiser. Get a retinol serum instead to fight the fine lines.

Ooohhhh, where do I get a retinol serum from?

If you can stomach the smell, L'Occitane Divine (the yellow jar) is highly rated. It smells a bit mildewey to me, they call it 'herbal' .
I've used the Blue jar before (I got a discount voucher in a magazine years ago)

I bought a trio of (IIRC) 5ml jars from QVC once (yellow/blue/shea) the shea is very rich.

If you go into L'Occitane they'll give you a sample sachet no doubt.

If you have money to splash, and are wanting to do some sort of anti-ageing, sort yourself out a proper skincare regime and save on the moisturiser.

Cleanser - whatever you like
Salicylic acid if you are combination, Glycolic is you have dry skin - Paula's Choice is the Gold Standard
Serum - Hylamide, Niod if you want to go the whole hog and spend money
Moisturiser - Cerave - no point in spending more. Has a lot of proven ingredients like ceramides and niacinamide at a low price point.
SpF

At night a retinol - Any of Paula's Choice, LRP or Vichy LiftActiv.

Don't buy skincare from a makeup specialist like Dior, Chanel etc - you are paying for the name and the markup is phenomenal.

Oo eck! Sounds a bit more complicated than I thought!

What about Clarins? Where I live we're a bit limited with shops.

I buy all of mine on line as shops v limited too - Paula's Choice is pretty much an online retailer in the UK as is Cerave.

Basically there isn't that much that really really works (and then it only works up to a point) in the beauty industry and the rest is just selling you luxury, pampering, fragrance, texture and a dream Grin

So if you know ingredients you can do v well on a tight budget but if you want to splurge you can have a lovely luxury feeling on something the feels lovely but prob in the longterm is doing diddly squat.

I use this and it's amazing

www.elemis.com/pro-collagen-marine-cream-ultra-rich.html

It's not cheap at £80 but lasts a long time

Sorry to burst your bubble but if you google skin care and dermos, you'll find that the price of a face cream bears no relationship to how it works. Dermos even go as far as suggesting Vaseline. All moisturisers do is lock moisture into the skin and if they are runny, put a bit of water into the top layers. Anything else is hype. With high end creams you are paying for marketing, posh packaging, sales assistants wages etc.
You'll do more good if you invest in a good high SPF and use daily - spf 30 at least. I've used this for 25 years and have no wrinkles or lines.

PollyPerky · 10/07/2016 15:12

I've changed lately from Clinique ( liked it as allergy tested and no fragrance) to Olay Regenerist 3-point which is lovely and only £12 ish from Amazon. (RRP £30)
For SPFs look at Skinceuticals, Ultrasun, Clinique City Block (spf 40.)
