Can anyone recommend me some products for spotty/oily skin teen DD?

DD and I are going shopping later and I promised we'd have a look for some concealer and foundation.

I'm not a great make up wearer so not really sure where to start.

Any suggestions for face wash/spot treatment stuff too please. We've tried most of the Clearasil type products. The worst parts is forehead, cheeks (beside nose) and chin

She's good at religiously taking her make up every day when she gets home from school and doesn't wear any if she's at home/walking the dog round the woods with me

We only have Boots and Superdrug - Boots have No 7, Clinique, Benefit, and a couple of other stands as well as Rimmel, Maybelline, etc.

I'd look at Liz Earle online for skincare.

As for make up superdrug has a great selection.

I have bad skin and use Liz Earle. Hot cloth cleanser, the exfoliator, toner and moisturiser. My skin has got so much better since I've started using it and it doesn't dry your skin out too much. I'm naturally oily but clearasil stripped it too much.

For make up I wear the no7 Essentially Natural foundation on a day to day basis and their concealer (which I can't remember the name of but is a little white tube) is pretty good to be honest.

How bad is her acne? Is it just a few spots here and there or more than that - because if so just go and see the GP and get proper treatment rather than messing about with over the counter products.

Acne is a proper skin disorder and you can't treat it with a cleanser and you don't want her to end up with scarring.

If it's mild then go Cetaphil and Effaclar Duo but anything more than that then straight to GP.

Also have a look at the Lisa Eldridge acne youtube tutorial which is amazing - she stresses that young people with acne actually have beautiful skin in between the spots which shouldn't be covered up with thick coverage makeup. She does a transformation with Dermablend on the spots and a light cover on the rest of the skin which is mind blowing.

We have spoken to the doctor (we were there for something else and DD mentioned it) and he said it was just normal teenage spots and recommended some tea tree stuff which hasn't really helped.

She's quite self conscious so insists on wearing make up, but where her skin is quite oily her make up goes very patchy, very quickly

Vichy normaderm liquid lotion I. A green bottle cleared up my monthly hormonal spots no end. But I a almost 40.
That plus washing with a mild bar soap in the evening and cutting down on spf to 15 or less.
Mac are good for concealer but she may not need it is the spots are attacked.
Sudocrem is great for healing old spots.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo cream is fab. They sell it in Boots. I use it on my t-zone and my 13 yr old DS has just started using it too. Won't dry the skin out and is fine under make up.

Another vote for Efflacar Duo. Be kind to the skin, wash in plain water, I would avoid make up tbh but am not a self conscious teen.

Every day - Dead Sea mud mask soap, about £3 ish from Boots. Couple of times a week - Boots botanics mens clay mask (works on females, surprisingly). Cheap and they work.
