Does anyone not follow fashion?

I really like clothes, and make an effort to look nice, but I don't follow fashion at all, just wear things I like. I may be accidentally in fashion now and again Smile
Is anyone else the same, or am I completely out on a limb here?

I don't. I mostly buy from charity shops and sales. I'm a bit classic rock chick (or I am in my head) skinniest, fitted tshirts, black leather biker jacket, dm's or birkenstocks. Absolutely hate the TOWIE/WAG look, if that's fashion I most certainly do not wish to follow it!

What I like about fashion is that it stops me getting into a style rut and gets me trying new things. If they don't work, the worst thing that happens is I look a bit of a tit. Nobody dies.

What does the TOWIE/WAG look consist of. Floisme, yes trying new things sounds good, I probably fall down on that, sticking to my old favourites.

TOWIE and WAG are hair extensions, heavy fake tan, false eyelashes, very bleached teeth, false nails too much of everything imo.

As a high street shopper I choose one or two trends to follow. As I'm not young it's more of a nudge of what is "on trend" whilst keeping my usual style.

No, agree with pp who said it's those who don't follow fashion that stand out. There are some awful sights when everyone jumps on that bandwagon ... crop tops, low cut jeans, leggings, just to mention a few, really do not suit most people who insist on squeezing into them. I think we should buy fewer and more classic items, and update with accessories.

I don't follow fashion. The modern silhouette just doesn't suit my body type.
I tend to wear classic clothes and usually add a couple of current accessories.

What's fashionable these days then? I rarely visit shops but have to go to a big shopping centre this week so I'm wondering what delights await me. I like to feel good in what I wear so don't give a monkeys chuff what others think. All I ever see around here (small village with a primary school) is skinny jeans, stripey tops and flat shoes. If that's fashion, I'm glad I don't partake. I thought it was a uniform.

I'm aware of fashion, but to the extent that you have to buy "fashion" because that's what's in the shops, I adapt it to my own long-term favourite styles which are (1) classic/European and (2) hippy/bohemian. I never wear head to toe this season's New Look or any fashionable shop like that, although I do buy some clothes in there, to wear my way.

A wee bit, I got excited when all the 90s stuff came back in but have yet to buy a bomber jacket.
That could be cos I need to lose weight though!

I suppose I do to a point but I'm about 7 or 8 decades behind! I really love vintage stuff, so my bumming around clothes are white linen shirts loafers and jeans circa 50s rockers and my dressier stuff is either 40s or 50s inspired wiggle dresses and swing dresses. It can be tricky to not make it look costumey sometimes though and on those days I usually revert to my 16 year old selfs style of jeans and band t-shirts.
I very rarely see things in shops that I like so when I do buy something I treat myself to well made well fitting good quality stuff so it really stands the test of time
