Who does decent make up brushes...?

I am treating myself to some new make up as I haven't since our wedding nearly 9 years ago! I don't wear much, just a bit of lip tint, eye shadow (I tint my brows and lashes) but want to have a nice brush to apply loose power too. All I can think of is Body Shop (which also have the bonus of being cheap via Ebay) but I am wondering who else. Any suggestions..?

Real techniques are nice, Zoeva and MAC are better IMO

RosieCockle · 07/07/2016 20:34

Real Techniques for foundation. MAC (bit spenny) for eyes.

RosieCockle · 07/07/2016 20:34

Oh funny, I was going to say Zoeva too, but I've never actually tried them.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/07/2016 20:46

I have a whole bunch of Zoeva ones - they kick the arse of the RT foundation ones.

PaulDacresButtPlug · 07/07/2016 20:54

Thanks! I only really need a big powder / blusher type brush for putting on loose powder. Am looking now...

A make artist recommended these to me from Amazon and they are fantastic

All my friends now use them too and love them also.

Price is brilliant too , and they honestly are fab quality

I love Body Shop brushes... Had them for years!

maggiethemagpie · 07/07/2016 21:12

Bodyshop seem to have changed recently and gone all cheap and nasty. I got a foundation brush and it was rubbish, had good ones in the past so they've done something to them.

PaulDacresButtPlug · 07/07/2016 21:20

My, now very old, brushes were Body Shop and they were good quality. That would be a real shame if they had gone downhill

Real Techniques

GeneandFred · 08/07/2016 02:32

Morphe

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/07/2016 08:54

I have some old (as is 20+ years old) Body Shop ones that are still going strong, no idea what the quality is like now though.

My DD (who is more make-up obsessive) has Real Technique and some new ones "Party Queen" which look like tiny back brushes Grin long handled and oval, densley packed soft brush heads.

The NYX ones look good (I'll have a closer look at them )

bingohandjob · 08/07/2016 22:37

I've just tried some of the new superdrug range - very impressed and they were half price last week so might still be on offer.

suze28 · 09/07/2016 10:50

Morphe brushes from Beauty Bay are fantastic. The only problem is that the range is huge and you'll be spoilt for choice.

KiwiKay · 12/07/2016 18:12

If you are looking for very nice ones then Beautylish.com has some that are very soft and well made.

In particular, Chikuhodo (Japanese brand) are amazing. They are handmade and assembled, using untrimmed hairs (ie. The hairs are placed by hand into the correct position for the brush head, and then the bottoms trimmed - not the tips. So all hairs finely taper - they aren't blunt-cut).
Also the Wayne Goss brushes are good.
Beautylish also takes of taxes etc so there are no surprises and offer free UK shipping over US$35 😃

Moogdroog · 12/07/2016 22:37

Real Techniques are ok, but I got some Morphe ones from Beauty Bay recently and they are amazing. Heard good things about LAB2 too. And Spectrum ones are very pretty.

FlamingoFling · 13/07/2016 07:12

I use Mac - mine are about 15 years old and still going strong

Liz09 · 13/07/2016 07:14

Zoeva. I threw out a lot of my old brushes and just kept the designer ones, then bought a Zoeva set. The Zoeva brushes are better than the YSL brushes, and are a fraction of the price.

Blueberryblueberry · 13/07/2016 07:28

Sorry to hijack the thread - looking at the real techniques brushes. Can anyone suggest which is better? Do I need the foundation brush (angled) or the expert face brush? For liquid foundation (EL double wear light)

Liz09 · 13/07/2016 08:25

Blueberry, the expert face brush is a lot better IMO. ☺️

NattyGolfJerkin · 13/07/2016 08:28

I like Laura Mercier for powder products & real techniques for liquid/cream.

Blueberryblueberry · 13/07/2016 09:00

Thanks liz
