Hair has gone batshit last few months

In the last 2-3 months my hair has changed considerably, and I've no idea why. I accept some of it is just ageing (early 40s, just starting to find 1 or 2 greys) but surely things don't change that fast, do they?

Have always had coarse, curly hair that's prone to frizz but a bit of serum used to sort it out, together with a weekly deep conditioning treatment.

Now, it starts to frizz while still wet just after a shower, and feels like a brillo pad, even after intensive conditioning treatments.

Any advice welcomed!

Try a clarifying shampoo. When mine gets like that it means that I've overdone it on silicone products and I need to give it a rest for a bit.

Will give that a go, thanks Project.

Have you tried slathering it with loreal extraordinary oil? I love that stuff.

Try silicone free shampoo, body shop rainforest range seems to work well with curly hair. I want to try the just conditioning wash but I can't not use products and can't get my head around how just conditioning works with that

Thanks for the ideas. Don't think I could cope with going product-free, the first day or 2 I wouldn't be able to leave the house ...

hi, try doing conditioner washes. I had this happen with my hair and was at my wits end so ended up doing loads of research and taking the plunge! dry shampoo may be your best friend for 6 weeks or so! but the results are really worth it. if you want to ease yourself into it i'd recommend the ogx range of sulfate free shampoo to begin with. Co-washing has made all the difference to me. now I've been doing it for 9 months you can literally tell by looking at the hair shaft when I started to do it - there is is such a difference in hair quality and general glossiness. I use the As I Am range and slap on the leave in conditioner afterwards. I can't wait to grow out all the old, tired and rough hair now, although this method has calmed them down a lot.

Stuff like extraordinary oil is all silicone. It makes my curly hair crazy. I agree w a clarifying wash you need to strip the silicone layer of the your hair. Then am oil treatment with an actual oil. Either from chemist or out the kitchen. Then co-wash. It'll be greasy for a day or 2 but wear tied up until the oil is absorbed. But

Nothing changed, have always used power showers. Think I'll give conditioner washing a go, I'm pretty desperate. Thanks all.
