Lumity vitamins - honest reviews, please

I'm just about to start my second month of taking the incredibly pricy Lumity vitamins, and I don't know what I think of them.

They claim to give you amazing skin, energy, sleep and emotional calm, which I would love! But I didn't feel particularly amazing during the first month.

If you've tried them, please let me know what your experiences were. Thanks!

This article is based on large RCTs which is considered the 'gold standard' in research.
Most vitamins are pointless with the exception of vitamin D. That's the only one I take.

Which is the Wilko one please?

Loumul · 22/09/2016 13:32

I'm a massive fan of Lumity. I'm on it for six months now and I'm a new woman!

Ifyoubuildit · 26/10/2016 12:44

I've been taking lumity for a month, I have noticed better sleep and my PMT completely disappeared for my last period - could be a fluke though. I haven't noticed any difference with my hair or skin. I'm going to try it for three months.

Ifyoubuildit · 26/10/2016 12:51

Oh and I'm finding I do have more energy and exercise seems easier

My husband and I both invested in a 3month supply of Lumity totalling £460. Lumity claim you need to take for 3 months to see any real results. We have just finished our 3 month supply, taking religiously to guidelines. We are both really disappointed as neither of us have seen any beneficial results at all... we are both looking more tired than ever to be honest... despite no lifestyle changes at all and xmas break. My hair is thinner than ever despite using the best products and going to the best salon in the Surrey area (was hoping it would assist with that). our sleep is same as ever and not improved. We both have very different skin types and no improvements to either of us. I posted a review on Lumity which they have replied to and refunded only one month of the 3 months each (that's their regret free guarantee). When you read all the claims, it would be far more reassuring if Lumity put a full refund behind this product based on 3 months and not 1 month. After all they specify 3 months to see a difference (not 1 month). As usual, another disappointing and very expensive investment. Would have been better off using the money to see a Super Derm and splash out on a retinoid cream etc.

Erm. I am confused. Why would anyone in their right mind pay £460 for vitamins? What type of brainwashing is associated with these and what the hell are they made from, unicorn's horn?

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 05/01/2017 16:45

I imagine for the same reason that red sugar pills work better than white sugar pills. The placebo effect is very really and it would be considerable more effective in £400 pills than £20 ones.

I'm putting together some £600 ones myself, bloody magic they are. I'm going to pose for the before photos myself and get that Rosie Huntington-Whatsit for the afters.

I am now six months older than my last post on this thread and still waiting to hear what the other 8 causes of ageing are, and how these miraculous pills reverse them.

Flexylex · 23/11/2021 05:32

Any particular vitamins doing you any good nowadays by any chance?

FatCatSkinnyRat · 04/09/2022 17:14

Yes, anyone found the magic pills yet??

unless you are pregnant or trying to be, there's no 'special vitamins for women'. If you are eating properly and still not feeling right, go see a medical professional rather than wasting money on health-babble.

That's not true. Women before menopause need a lot more iron than men, for example (assuming we're talking vitamins and minerals).

ZOMBIE THREAD

CleverGreenBee · 13/12/2024 04:25

I was taking them and felt great after 2 month. I suffer with depression and found getting out of bed an effort most days for years. Im 61 and for a rare month or so in the summer there, I felt great. Got up every morning, washed and dressed. I didn't know what caused this upsurge in my mood. Anyway on the third month my finances changed and though Lumity offered me a discount on my subscription for 3 months I still cancelled them. I'm now feeling utter rubbish again and It just clicked the other day that I think it was the Lumity that improved my mood so much. So financial problems or not, I'm restarting my subscription. Plus my sleep was better and now that's gone to poo again.

ScepticalAnnie89 · 13/12/2024 08:55

Lumity contains the cheapest forms of vitamins and minerals. Eg, sodium selenite, magnesium oxide, folic acid. It’s better to buy better quality individual mineral and vitamins separately once knowing you’re actually deficient because taking things like zinc (one of the components of this product) is dangerous if you’re not deficient; it can actually upset one’s copper balance

It also contains iodine so if you have autoimmmine thyroiditis also known as Hashimoto, iodine is an absolute no

CleverGreenBee · 13/12/2024 13:50

I believe what you're saying but I've had severe depression most of my life and I don't eat a balanced diet. When I had that great improvement in mood and energy, I hadn't been taking anything else except my anti depressants that dont help much.. So it could have been the Lumity. The only way I will know for sure is if I give them another go. I appreciate your advice but I need to try them again, just to satisfy myself but thank you 🫠

CleverGreenBee · 13/12/2024 13:57

I've just googled Hashimoto 😳 My my mum had an underactive thyroid. It has a few of the symptoms i have. I think I'll check with my doctor first. Thanks so much for telling me that. When you're depressed you hang onto anything you think might be helping 😉

ScepticalAnnie89 · 13/12/2024 18:27

With nutritional deficiencies most inferior supplements will help but there are better and safer ways than Lumity of helping you to feel better, mentally and physically

For the same reason, overwhelmingly, most multi vitamins shouldn’t be used either, plus, there’ll be even more minerals and vitamins in it that you don’t need and could do more harm than good

Good quality multi vits are few and far between
