I want them to wear on the plane when I go abroad but all the ones I've seen are just terrible colours!
Would also like a nice plain longish cardigan can you please help??

Sounds like you don't actually want harem trousers then, which by definition have a low slung crotch. I admit though, places like Next and Dorothy Perkins do seem to have appropriated the word to define those awful garishly patterned elasticated waist trousers that look more like cheap pyjamas to me.

I'd look for a jogging pant, possibly without an ankle cuff and which taper to the ankle.

I bought those a next Harem pants for exactly that purpose. They are PERFECT as pyjamas when camping. Cosy, comfy and modest for early morning toilet runs.

ilovecherries · 03/07/2016 19:25

Next. Not a next.

spornersunited · 03/07/2016 19:49

I tried these on yesterday www.newlook.com/shop/womens/trousers/blue-tile-print-joggers-_368652749?productFind=search

Surprisingly cool and comfy and very flattering & look much better in real life - I don't know why I didn't buy them at the time but I will get get a pair for travelling in and then will be able to dress them up for the evening with a strappy top & wedges.

PippilottaViktualia · 03/07/2016 19:55

What about these, not harems exactly but they pretty much fit your brief.

I've a few pairs and they are really nice and comfy

PippilottaViktualia · 03/07/2016 19:55

Oh, wait Blush

Uniqlo's lounge pants. £15 quid, plain colours or patterns.

Slight dropped crotch, elasticated waist and ankle cuffs, high waisted and tapered leg.

misspym · 03/07/2016 19:58

I think the Next ones fit the bill if you size down. I have them in navy and in black and they are so comfortable.

I last flew in these which were dreamily comfy but I suspect the crotch might not be what you're looking for! www.asos.com/asos/asos-washed-harem-pants-in-jersey/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=6169268&clr=Navy&SearchQuery=haren&pgesize=36&pge=1&totalstyles=78&gridsize=3&gridrow=10&gridcolumn=1

familyfarm · 03/07/2016 20:15

I live in the next ones, have 3 pairs of the black and one in khaki

ShelaghTurner · 04/07/2016 09:41

I live in the Next ones too. Also size down, two sizes actually and they're perfect. I hate the garish ones but they do blue, black, grey and some more muted blue patterned and they're prefect.

Indecisivejo · 04/07/2016 11:34

Are the next ones the tapered trousers available in black navy and green?

what kind of shoes do people where with their herems? I normaly wear sandals, but find that wearing trainers or flats look odd with harems. Would be nice to wear alternative shoes on bad days.

Jmangel · 04/07/2016 12:50

I've just bought the Asos blue ones - exactly what I've been looking for.
Dandelion, I too would only wear sandals - gladiators look good.
Just bought a strapless body to go with them as the waist line of the harems can be tricky - too much loose fabric can mean no definition hence hoping body works.

SmellTheGlove · 04/07/2016 14:03

I have some lovely ones from the White Company. Charcoal colour, so soft, really nice fit. Expensive at £40 but they seem to be good quality, weighty fabric. Can't remember what they were called, probably 'lounge pants' or something..

JamieVardysParty · 04/07/2016 14:50

Wearing the Next black ones right now. I'm a 12 and they are perfect in a size Small.

They are so comfy and go with everything. I always fly in them long haul.

Buttonmoonb4tea · 04/07/2016 22:52

Indecisive - yes the Next ones I have are the tapered leg trousers

Indecisivejo · 05/07/2016 07:51

Thank you I'm going to order the next ones :)

Seeing as you've come up with some great suggestions, can any of you find me a similar style that has ankle detailing like buttons etc? I've looked around but the ones I've seen are close to or over £100, which I don't want to pay. Sorry to hijack Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/07/2016 13:40

Hush have some with have zips at the ankles. Khaki, Navy, Black. £45. Or £35 in the case of the navy.
