Getting rid of all clothes at the end of each season and buying new?

A friend of mine was telling me the other day that she does this.

At the end of every season she gets rid of 90% of her wardrobe, either by giving it to the charity shop or selling at boot fairs.

Does anyone else do this? I can't imagine doing it; I get far too attached to items and no way would I want to get rid of an item that suits/fits me really well.

I just wondered really if loads of people do this and that I'm in the minority keeping things for yonks?

Where does she shop?
I could understand if it was primark as mostly they shrink, look crappy otherwise waste of money.
My winter clothes are all stocked in another wardrobe till winter.
Il obviously buy a few new things but wear the majority again.

I can understand it I guess but EACH season?! And ALL the clothes?? Are there really so many things that only look right for one season? Peasant tops were huge last summer along with midi skirts and dresses and all still very in this summer, maybe even more so. Off the shoulder and cold shoulder are still very much in and have been for a couple of years. And these are the fashiony things. Surely she doesn't get rid of t shirts and jeans? These are staples over years. I know there are many shapes of jeans now but we've only seen skinnies for years, surely she wouldn't get rid of those each season and then replace with the same?

No.

I have clothes older than the DCs and I still wear them.

Also, seasons?
What seasons?

It's all the same except two weeks of heat and the occasional snow one.
