bloody ingrown hairs

I have used an epilady on my lower legs for years and whilst there is definitely less hair growth, the bloody
In-grown hairs ShockAngry

I exfoliate and moisturise but it doesn't make any difference and my legs are now covered in unsightly scars.

Is shaving really my only option?
My understanding is that waxing is more or less the same as epilating so I'd still end up with the same problem.

I'm wearing a knee length dress to a wedding on Saturday and am so embarrassed about the state of my legs I'll have to wear cover up makeup plus tights!

I had the same with epilating, I've resorted to shaving now, it was either that or have spotty legs that I never wanted to get out anyway!

It's horrible isn't it Proper? I did wonder if it was my epilady getting knackered, as its about 6 years old. Maybe a better sharper one might make a difference??

My legs were a mass of ingrown hairs (and spots then scars) over the couple of months I used an epilator. Apparently it's something to do with how it doesn't pull them all out in the same direction.

They can cope with waxing. I still get some ingrowns (despite exfoliating and moisturising) but not the horror I got with an epilator.

Have you tried a dedicated product?

When I remember to use Tend Skin or Lycon X-It regularly, I do tend to get fewer ingrowing hairs...

Shaving instead of epilating or waxing is the only thing that worked for me.

Unless you've got a good epilator and a great technique, the likelihood is that you're snapping the hair off just underneath your skin rather than pulling it out at the roots.

When you look at some of the hairs you've removed can you see the root ball on the end?

You could give waxing a try for a couple of months, it's worth a go to see if there's an improvement. Just make sure you go to someone qualified, don't try it yourself.

I used to get my lady area waxed and whilst I loved the silly smooth feeling afterwards the ingrown hairs were horrendous. I shave now. Don't get me wrong ,I still get the odd one but now it's only surface ones ,not the deep under the skin ones. Apparently salicylic acid is good for preventing ingrown hairs, sheds dead skin (which is usually what caused them as the hairs can't break through to the surface ).

I have the same problem so I have a lumea now but I'm a good fit as I have dark hair and pale skin
