Help massive spot on nose

Bumperstickers · 09/06/2016 12:36

My nose is throbbing. Got a spot on the end, one that is underneath the skin and its all red and sore. I'm going to a posh do on Saturday night so need rid of it quick! What's the best to do? TCP? Sudocrem? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Tate what a read!

Any tips on sebaceous cysts? DP has one that he can't get rid of and the Drs won't do it because its cosmetic. Its just big and yellow but I can't squeeze it Envy Some people on Google said to use a sterilised needle in the manner you said but I'm a bit scared of doing that!

Tate15 · 09/06/2016 20:22

Spots, pimples, boils etc are just pus where an infection from debris in a follicle has occurred.

I believe a cyst is formed in its own sac and even if a cyst is drained it will refill and only the removal of the sac will get rid of it forever.

I wouldn't attempt a cyst. I think he should go back to the GP and say it's making him feel depressed

MrTiddlestheFatCat · 09/06/2016 20:27

Thanks tate that's what I thought (Sorry to hijack your thread a bit OP!)

I bet nobody even ever notices it but I sure do and its driving me crazy, maybe if I go with him they'll do it out of sympathy for me Grin

I found this regarding cyst
My doctor diagnosed a sebaceous cyst and prescribed a course of ant biotics and told me to return in 10 days which i did, he still was not happy and put me on a further course of anti biotics. However when the cyst began to weep i started to use magnesium sulphate paste on hydrocolloid dressings which is a clear plaster to draw the poison out. So far so good and the plastersare still drawing out the poison which is rather smelly.

Tate is spot on about cysts.

DH has one on his back, luckily it doesn't get too massive and he's not bothered by it. Which is great because I get to squeeze all the lovely gunge out and then wait for it to refill

Great post Tate!
Eye drops can help to reduce redness.

MrTiddlestheFatCat · 09/06/2016 20:37

Thanks Tate will keep pressing for the Drs appointment and see what they can do- I imagine its fairly common.

Envy at you sandunes getting to squeeze it. DP's is totally under the skin so nothing ever comes out of it- poor me Sad

Branleuse · 09/06/2016 20:43

pic?

SandunesAndRainclouds · 09/06/2016 20:53

DH's may have had a helping hand needle to get it to share.

Misspapia · 10/06/2016 10:08

Blob of toothpaste usually helps me reduce spot redness. You can rub it off once its dry.

Tate15 · 10/06/2016 10:43

How is your conk this morning?

DoloresVanCartier · 10/06/2016 10:52

Its better than it was yesterday. Gave it a squeeze last night and liquid was coming out for a while. Then TCP and sudocrem overnight. Bit of a yellow head on it this morning which I gently squeezed but overall improving. Thanks for the tips everyone.

I read that models put toothpaste on spots-to-be and leave on overnight - to dry it out a bit but is maybe a bit harsh for some skins. Isn't it a boil though, rather than a spot if the pus is yellow?

MrTiddles My dad had a cyst on his back ages ago and the GP was going to get rid of it for him but when the time came for the appointment the doc couldn't find it! He came home disappointed as he was hoping for some time off work.

It came up again so over the next two weeks mum ran him a bath each evening after work and she got to work on it - squeezing. She told me, "You should have seen it! It was cheesy and smelled horrible."

Er no, I'm so glad I'd left home by then and didn't see it - either the cyst or dad naked in the bath, ta very much.

CowPatRoberts · 10/06/2016 19:06

Not too much use for tomorrow, but get some of Sarah Chapmans spot stickers- they have a 100% success rate with me. They're a tad pricey but completely worth it!!

Aspergallus · 10/06/2016 20:42

Hydro colloid plasters are quite miraculous and don't damage your skin, so you can still use make up without a big crusty patch.

RaarSaidTheLion · 10/06/2016 21:00

Ice pack. The earlier the better!

TrafficJunkie · 10/06/2016 21:59

I use a witch hazel and tea tree stick from boots. And micellar water as a cleanser. This has stopped all my spots. Prevention better than cure. 😊

HopeArden · 10/06/2016 22:42

Disagree there TrafficJunkie. A good squeezable spot is a thing of wonder Grin

TrafficJunkie · 10/06/2016 22:52

hope 😂😂
