Thinking ahead- what are your Autumn/winter essential pieces of clothing?

I know, I know it's only June but I've just been having a clear out of my wardrobe and there's a lot of items that are either ok or even a bit meh.

Thinking ahead to the Autumn I'd like to have a wardrobe of items that I actually want to wear and will be worn until they need replacing, not a wardrobe of items that I don't want to wear/ misbuys, that always seem too good to get rid of and will never be worn out.

Please share your capsule / essential items for Autumn and Winter.

Sleeveless shift dresses over roll necks or sometimes over shirts

Thick woolly tights as soon as it is cold enough!

Last year I bought the M&S Indigo soft cord leggings in navy and I knew I should've bought the black too....... could I find the black ones later ? Nope Sad

So. Black soft cord leggings.
Lots of jumpers, twinset cardi& sleeveless tops. Not too thick. Not high neck or poloneck.

I have coats for A/W (never wore them much last year)

Something in paisley or brocade textured.

I love winter shopping, my resolve holds out all Summer, fails in Autumn.

JamieVP I like your colour scheme it sounds very classic.

JamieVardysParty · 11/06/2016 11:22

Thanks Rebel. I'm quite lucky that I live somewhere with very mild, dry winters. I never really have to dress for bad weather!

When you don't have to wrap up against the elements, I think it is easier to look a bit more put together. My style falls apart when I come back to the UK and it's freezing.

Lots of ankle boots - perhaps patent this year
More black skinnies
Merino wool jumpers with vests underneath
Leather
I love winter!
