cardi or jacket for over this dress?

Any ideas please? It's quite an informal event but will last most of the day and evening so an extra layer will be needed.

Lovely dress!
Cropped cardi

poppym12 · 04/06/2016 11:31

I thought cardi too. Any idea on colours?

What's the event and what will you wear on your feet?

Dusty pink or amber yellow might be nice.

Allalonenow · 04/06/2016 13:21

Cardi, as the dress has a quite unstructured look, if you are dark haired I'd say a lime green cardi, or for a blonde perhaps bronze/pink.

Peppermintea · 04/06/2016 14:45

I wouldn't wear a cardigan with buttons with that dress. The dress had long lines and a flowing look and a button down cardigan is the complete opposite to that. I would get a chunky cream knit shawl or a cream or champagne coloured pashmina. If you want a jacket a long white blazer with 3/4 sleeves but it would have to be long and relaxed fit.

Openup41 · 04/06/2016 15:52

I would suggest a jacket - a cropped jacket.

McWeedie · 04/06/2016 18:47

Loving the dress, where's it from? Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2016 19:18

Biker jacket.

BlueFolly · 04/06/2016 19:21

I hate to say it, but I think a waterfall cardi would look right with that. Anything else would be too structured.

MotherBluestocking · 04/06/2016 22:20

I'm with Remus - biker jacket. Definitely needs to be no longer than waist length. Flowy cardigan will swamp.
Gorgeous dress!

AstrantiaMallow · 04/06/2016 22:58

Was thinking more along the lines of this cropped cardi in terms of shape, buttons undone obviously.

Biker could work but depends on the kind of event. Def not something long.

notagiraffe · 04/06/2016 23:07

Biker jacket is a brilliant idea. Or if you wanted to look smarter/more conservative, a very cropped bolero cardigan. But a biker jacket would go better with that dress.

chebella · 04/06/2016 23:11

While you're at it - what to put with/over this? Please and thank you!

P.s. Is for a semi-formal work do in the evening... Any suggestions hugely appreciated!

SmashingTurnips · 04/06/2016 23:22

Agree with biker jacket or wrap / shawl type thing.

Just5minswithDacre · 05/06/2016 00:03

Where's that from poppy? It's gorgeous.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/06/2016 12:50

I think a shawl or a wrap might bring it into fortune teller territory. A biker or cropped jacket would be much better, I think.

Allalonenow · 05/06/2016 13:10

I think a shawl/wrap would make it look too Laura Ashley hippy dippy, and would reduce the impact of the shape of the frock.

poppym12 · 05/06/2016 16:33

Sorry for the delay, major Internet troubles Angry
the dress is originally from the trend section of h & m. Think a lightish biker jacket may work without looking too fussy with the flappy lapels? The theme of the 'do' is glastonbury/festival so thinking about it, the more causal look would be fine.

Shoe problem though - recommendations for flats please?

OP posts:
Allalonenow · 05/06/2016 17:55

If the theme is Glastonbury the footwear has to be wellies! Grin

amarmai · 05/06/2016 18:06

Gladiator sandals or short cowgirl boots.

DavetheCat2001 · 05/06/2016 21:41

A skinny denim jacket would look nice IMO

poppym12 · 05/06/2016 23:14

My usual footwear is converse, birkenstocks or boots so I think wellies would make a nice change Grin
