hi i know there are loads of threads on here with regard to foundation but i just never seem to get it right wheni buy them.

i have a greasy t zone and blush quite easily but would like something that is the same colour as my face (when its not red)

i dont like the thought of having a line with a difference in colour between my face and neck and like ive said im not great with make up but feel i should make more of an effort

will be popping to the shops tomorrow and just wondered if anyone had any recommendations as you go to boots and speak to someone on a counter and they just give you advice on their product

thanks and sorry to be a pain

Years ago, around the time i got married I think, I went to the Estee Lauder counter and asked for advice, told them I always bought the wrong colour blah blah. They were brilliant, they matched me up with the correct one and the double wear foundation is fantastic - I've used it ever since.

I go back in the summer when I've got a bit of colour and they help me find the right one for when I'm a little darker.

oo thanks. do boots usually have one of their counters do you know. if not i think debenhams might.

do you use a sponge or brush to apply yours?

what colouring do you have? If you are v fair Lancome is v good, I use the adaptive foundation for combination skin.

I think you'll find that the larger Boots will have the various make up counters.

I don't know your budget, but it may be worth while going to MAC, NARS, Prescriptives and Bobby Brown make up counters. They have a large and varied selection of foundations for different skintones. If i remember correctly, Prescriptives can even make up your own foundation if they don;t have one to match.

HTH

i have brown hair and brown eyelashes and eyebrows. go v red quite easily when wound up, embarrassed etc. but most of the time get told i look pale so its one extreme or the other

erm i just want something that is easy to apply and that i wont be paranoid about the line between chin and neck

im so useless at this

The last one I bought was Estee Lauder and I was given 2 samples to try at home - the sales lady decanted them into a small vial that would last about 4/5 days. I'm not sure if this was a promotion or something they do the whole time. If there is an Estee Lauder counter it might be worth asking them if they will do this for you?

It was a big help as I could try them at home and see what they were like in daylight etc before committing to buy.

When you try them in-store, put a stripe of it on your face just above and going down to the jaw line - if you do 2 or 3 at a time you'll get a good idea if one is suitable. The one that 'disappears' is a good match.

Good luck

Boots don't usually do Estee Lauder IME. They have a new foundation out that I think is really good, called something like resilience lift.

I've just bought the new boots one. It's called age rewind - very easy to blend and not too heavy.

Do I look younger like the promotional promise? Maybe by a few months!

thank you. will try and have a look tomorrow
fingers crossed
