Would anyone like to help me choose between two boringly similar swimming costumes?

This is my summer holiday "oh my god you've lost so much weight Michelle!!' swimming coz.

This one (Figleaves)

or

This one (Debenhams)

Which is most flattering? I've lost a stone and a half, hopefully getting through the last half stone before my poolside debut. Last vestiges of tum are proving very hard to shift.

the figleaves one, looks like more cup support with the back clasp.

if you are a pear shape, i think the debenhams one could make someone look bottom heavy unless you have athletic/wide shoulders or a good sized bust.

the figleaves one looks more up to date too.

order them and try both!

SomethingLike · 28/05/2016 21:43

Second one LOADS better.

MabelFurball · 28/05/2016 22:16

I think they are both hideous (sorry OP).

DianaT1969 · 28/05/2016 22:31

Not keen on either for the reasons already given. I would keep looking.

itsbetterthanabox · 28/05/2016 22:38

The Debenhams one.
Strapless would just be annoying.

tabpepsi · 28/05/2016 22:43

the strapless one has got detachable straps though.

PrimalLass · 28/05/2016 23:33

I'm actually getting mild rage about the Debenhams one. It is not nice, and looks awful on the model.

I need to book a holiday and worry about my own swimwear rather than over investing in someone else's ...

SharingMichelle · 29/05/2016 03:43

Guffaw @ mild rage about my poorly chosen swimsuits!! Grin

Right. I am now prancing around in high waisted pants and bra to see if a bikini is doable. By jove i think it is. I mean, i have a little bit of saggy skin on my belly, but i don't think I'll be arrested for that right?

Well I preferred the Debenhams one and thought they posted free to Europe? They also give you return labels and I think it is only a few euros to send back if doesn't fit. Hate the yellow belt on first one. Then again, I would be avoiding any attention to that area.Envy Well done on your weight loss though OPStar

Blubellsmum · 29/05/2016 04:22

I love the second one and I would buy that one for myself! Congratulations on the weight loss. Excellent job!Star

Go with your gut feeling on it though. If thre is someplace you can try them on, would be your best bet. I ordered two different suit prior to holiday last year to only go shopping once we reached our destination to find the perfect 2 piece in the first shop we visited and it was about half price the 2 I had ordered. Always seems to happen to me for some reason.Blush

prettywhiteguitar · 29/05/2016 07:51

Haha yes !! Bikini bikini !

SeemsLegit · 29/05/2016 07:56

The debenhams one is fugly and very unflattering much prefer the figleaves one

PrimalLass · 29/05/2016 08:58

Guffaw @ mild rage about my poorly chosen swimsuits!!

I know. I really need to book a holiday!

Eminybob · 29/05/2016 09:04

If you are likely to get a tan, the strapless is much better for the purposes of tan lines.

I have just come back from holiday and although I have a strapless, on the first day I stupidly wore a double cross over strapped one and had ridiculous tan lines for the rest of the holiday. Which annoyed me no end as most of my sun dresses are strapless Angry

TychosNose · 29/05/2016 09:32

I think both are nice.

How flattering will depend on two things:

Your shape- as pp have said, if you are a pear, the Debenhams one will accentuate that. The figleaves one will highlight your shoulders, so if you have nice shoulders that shape will be better.

Your colouring- going by the colours on my screen, the Debenhams one has less obvious contrast, so if you have a lots of contrast in your colouring, or are dark-skinned, it might wash you out. The figleaves one will 'wear you' if you don't have much contrast/are very fair.

Well done on your weight loss and have a great holiday. I'm going to Holland so not much chance of swimsuit wearing for me. I live vicariously through you!

Madbengalmum · 29/05/2016 10:31

Fugly costumes OP, surely you can do better than that!

SharingMichelle · 29/05/2016 13:47

Show me the way! What is a beautiful cozzie?

Is this?

What about the bikini version of the Debs one?

Is this a beautiful swimming costume?

I'm starting to think there is no such thing.

This is a nice shape and innofensive

Madbengalmum · 29/05/2016 14:00

Sharing, i would avoid anything at Debenhams TBH.
What size are you? Are you big/small busted? Why are you avoiding bikinis?
Just give us some background info to work on.

SharingMichelle · 29/05/2016 18:28

Avoid Debenhams??! God I'm so out of touch.

OP posts:
Madbengalmum · 29/05/2016 18:47

Some people like it, but i do generally find it to be a place lacking in inspiration and style. It seems to churn out the same tawdry items year after year.
Can you give us any details?? A budget?? Etc
