First night out since having DD2 - Need a whole new outfit, top to toe please

First night out since having DD2 7 weeks ago and want to make a real effort but struggling at the minute.

I have lost just over 2 stone so far but have nearly another 2 stone to loose until I am back to pre-pregnancy weight. Size 14 at the minute but hoping to be in a 12 by the time big night out arrives.

Bad Points - Baby bulge (bit of a muffin top going on), thighs not great, bum and hips carrying a few extra lbs.
I am going to buy some magic undies to try and help with the bum and tum so that may not be too bad.

Good Points - Boobs defo, arms not too bad, shoulders and neck looking OK.

I really love both of these dresses 1 and 2 - was thinking maybe with tights (to try and disguise legs if needs be) and cute shoes.
What are your thoughts ? Am only 22 so please be gentle, I'm not ready for anything to old and frumpy just yet but equally want to look classy and not that i've tried to squeeze into something too small.
Also, I have a Great Universal Essentials catalogue so if there is anything in there you would suggest I can order.

TIA

oh i love dress no 1 would be lovely with black tights and knee-high boots. Could dress it up with some funky jewellery, maybe a chunky bead necklace.

wurlywurly · 16/01/2007 12:12

of forgot to ask where are you going?? and when??

I like dress 2 better, I think it would skim over the bits you're worried about more. Both lovely, though.

oranges · 16/01/2007 12:15

I agree - don't wear a smock - people will think you are still pregnant. Dress 2 is lovely. When is the do? If you are a size 14 now, I'd buy the dress in size 14 if you want to get it soon. Or wait till closer to the date to try it on. Where are you going??

wurlywurly · 16/01/2007 12:15

this is nice you could wear black or silver heels and silver jewellery

ledodgy · 16/01/2007 12:17

You're only 22 and will be a size 12 if I were you i'd go for footless tights instead of tights.

controlfreaky2 · 16/01/2007 12:18

agree with others... opaque tights or maybe leggings? (hard to judge how long / short dress is)

wurlywurly · 16/01/2007 12:18

ooh yeah footless tights and little black flatties (more comfy if you get leggless i mean for dancing)

I like both dresses, are indeed forgiving to baby tum, but agree 2 is better.
However, neither really showcase boobs or arms - I'd be tempted to go for trousers with a longer length tunicy top, possibly sleeveless, with a glimpse of cleavage.

I now of course cannot find a pic of what I mean...

100PerCentCod · 16/01/2007 12:23

FoghornLeghorn · 16/01/2007 12:28

I prefer dress 2 but didn't know if the pattern would be a bit unflattering ?
A friend suggested footless tights but I have been a bit anti them in the past and thought they would only look good on super slim people (which I certainly wont be).

Will defo go for a skimmer rather than a clinger, hopefully if I get the right underwear I can pull it off.
Do we reckon shoes rather than boots ? Platform ? Round Toe ?

Not 100% sure on where we are going yet, possibly a few wine bars and then wherever the night leads us. Wanted to be a bit glam for my first night out in god knows how long.

Mrs B, I realised after I posted I sort of contradicted myself with the whole good point/bad point thing.
I always always wear trousers so wanted to be a bit different, and the more fitted look trousers would defo not be a flattering look for me at the mo I don't think.

I wouldn't know where to find someone to alter something around here.

Night out is a week saturday - DH is having DD's all day that day so I can spend the whole day shopping, actually trying clothes on and walking around the centre 5 times if I want to.
Thought best to leave til last min so I know exactly what size to get just got to keep fingers crossed they have what I like

foghorn asda has the second dress very very similar today for £12 and they also had a little greenie coloured cardi as well.

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2007 13:00

Oh thanks Wurly, i will have a look.

They have taken dress 2 off of the website now and I didn't get around to ordering it yesterday.
I've rung all the stores relatively close to me and none have it, aparently it was only stocked in London stores and I don't have a chance to get to London to get one.

Am soooo gutted - had really got my heart set on that.

Back to square one again then - More suggestions ?
