I am a chronic over packer so am looking for guidance on what others take to cover all the requirements for a week in Cornwall .
Am self catering with two young DC so no glamour required sadly!

My summer clothes are currently still in storage and I have lost some weight so am thinking this is the year to actually take what I need and not take everything I think I 'might ' wear (but usually don't!)

thanks !

1 pair Jeans
Boots or sturdy shoes, whatever you usually wear on your feet this time of year. You won't need sandals.
7 T shirts
7 pairs knickers
as many pairs of socks as you need for a week
as many bras as you might need
1 jumper
1 hoody
rain coat/other waterproof jacket/coat
1 pair pyjamas
hat (woolly)
hat (sun)
wetsuit
(I'd add running gear too but that's me)
books
toiletries
tech

That was my packing list for cornwall at Easter. It's not going to be much warmer down this end of the country next week.

Am just starting to pack for half term. No need dress up now we have children and a puppy.
So far I have got:
Birkenstocks
Boots
Converse
Wellies
Waterproof coat
Gilet
Wrap thing
Hoodie
Linen jumper
Cardigans x 3
Vests x 3
Skinny jeans
Cropped jeans
Jeans
T shirts - 3 short , 2 long
Summer dress
Tankini
Shorts
Underwear / pjs
Toiletries

Sure I've probably forgotten something. I love Cornwall but can never guage the weather and have yet to master layers. I usually end up buying an emergency overpriced something or other in padstowSmile

ThornyBird · 24/05/2016 17:38

I live in Cornwall and have yet to unpack summer clothes. If you are planning on beaches, you will need woolly hats and gloves based on the past couple of weeks - or cossie and factor 50 - it's been erratic Grin

Watching with interest- we're visiting Cornwall for the first time at half term. Can't wait!

snozzlemaid · 24/05/2016 20:14

It's not very warm down here at the moment. Don't think we've reached 20 degrees yet this year.
So don't expect to be in shorts.

Petal02 · 24/05/2016 20:18

We're heading to Cornwall on Friday too!!! Very excited. I started to write a packing list, but got distracted by some dancing polar bears on Britain's Got Talent. I'll try again:

2 pairs jeans
1 cargo/cropped cotton trousers
1 shorts (or maybe not)?
3 long sleeve tops
3 short sleeve t shirts
Couple of vest tops?
1 fleece
1 gilet
Scarf
1 shower proof coat
Nike trainers
Skechers (sorry)
Heels or ballet pumps (if we head out for evening meal)
Converse
2 smart/casual outfits (evening) probably skinny jeans with nice tops
Socks and underwear
Umbrella

carrielou2007 · 24/05/2016 21:16

We're off to St Ives on Saturday, we only live in Somerset where it has been boiling so hoping to take the weather with us Grin. I'm taking
Jeggins (roll up if nice)
Simple plain tops
Cardigan
2 beach dresses (can wear with cardigan if we go out in the evenings)
Denim knee length skirt
Beach style skirt
Joggers and hoody for cold days
Pants, socks and bras
Sandal
Ballet pumps
Converse
Couple of dressy tops if we go out to dinner to wear with black jeggins
Lightweight waterproof coat (sea salt hellweathers Mac)

See you there Grin

whirlygirly · 24/05/2016 21:22

I have the same problem deciding what to wear for work.

Today where I work it has been windy and pretty chilly. The thing with Cornwall is that you usually don't need to travel far to find an entirely different weather system. When I got home (12 miles away) it was cloudless and sitting in the garden weather.

So layers is my advice.

nextchapterplease · 24/05/2016 22:15

Oh replies ! Thanks all - only just sat down so am just going to re read.
Finding this fascinating .
It's my third year running so I am under no illusion that the weather will be anything other than unpredictable and agree layers rule.
My problem lies with wanting to have an array of options for every change of weather!
Thornybird even in London we have had mad extremes of weather for the time of year ! I am still defiantly packing sandals though - have new saltwaters to christen but don't worry I don't do shorts anyway ...

Are you all here now? Weather looking good Smile - for now..!

carrielou2007 · 31/05/2016 06:25

We've had stunning weather for last three days, hope it carries on for the rest of the week Grin

UhtredRagnorsson · 31/05/2016 10:27

yes the weather down here is amazing. I feel well silly for saying shorts wouldn't be needed now.

ThornyBird · 31/05/2016 10:33

I am just back from Brownie camp in Bodmin and only took one pair of shorts - they were humming by the time we got home! Although it was cold at night.

Already got 3 loads of washing on the line and hitting the beach dreckly...

Petal02 · 31/05/2016 18:28

I've been in Cornwall since Friday, and I've already got a light tan!

whirlygirly · 31/05/2016 20:50

Ha ha half the office are sunburnt after this weekend, there are some interesting tan lines going on.

Windy today but meant to be ok again tomorrow. Layers, I tell you. Wink
