I'm having a much needed clearout. I've got lots of stuff mainly high St Shoes & clothes (some lightly worn, some new).
Is it worth the effort of setting up ebay on my phone & relevalant hassle of trying to sell stuff or should I just bag it for the charity shop?

I have a minimum 'worth it' (hassle of advertising, packing, posting) for stuff, tends to be about £7.50 per item or what I think is fair for others. I'd rather give a jumper that I think is worth £30 to charity than get £10 for it on eBay but I'd probably feel differently if I was desperate for cash.

Facebook selling pages are probably better, as they don't take a cut.

Its only worth it if clothes are ironed and have good keywords in the title.

I sell alot of dds stuff on ebay but everything is ironed and well presented in photos etc.

I recently sold 2 sets of used pjs from mini boden for £15 + postage

It can be worth it - my decluttering produced 200 - 300 quid which was very useful. But I already had my eBay account and had built up a reasonable feedback rating buying and selling very low priced items.

Whoops - just realised you want to sell clothes whereas my stuff was nnot...

I've used eBay for years both buying and selling and now I really only think it's worth selling clothes that are designer, high end high st or online only brands like Hush, Boden etc.

Stuff from mid range shops like M and S, Next etc either won't sell at all or you'll just get a few quid them for if you're lucky. Even if it's brand new with tags.

If you do want to sell clothes/shoes make sure you take lots of clear photos from different angles, write full descriptions and include relevant search terms in the listing headings

I've recently started doing it and it's worth in that I enjoy it. I have a bit of an online shopping/ebay habit so I decided to spend some time selling instead of browsing. I like writing the description and making the package all nice. But agree with a PP it's only really worth it for items that will sell for £5-10 or more - unless you have lots of free time.

Also agree that to start selling, it helps to already have a good rating as a buyer. And that you need to now how to do it well - good, clear pictures, friendly, detailed description, be totally honest about the condition of the item, sensible keywords in the title eg "Gap yellow floral summer dress size 14" so people can find what they're looking for.

Ita with the "worth it" threshold. For me it's about a tenner, otherwise it's just unnecessary stress. Ebay feels riskier for sellers than it used to, not entirely sure why.

Has anyone sold on depop? I'm wondering if that might be an easier option? I need to check their cut to see if it's worth it but I was thinking maybe lower value items on depop, nicer things on ebay.

Depends on how much your free time is worth to you, and how much you love/hate the selling.
Ie if you are skint with lots of free time, absolutely worth it. If you are reasonably comfortable with no free time, not worth it.
My threshold is I have to expect to get 5 pounds for an item OR it has to be something that is specialised that might not be appropriate for a charity shop.

My worth it time had to be quite high (I can't just 'pop' to the PO as I always have minimum 1 DC with me).

In the end what was worth is was the extra space, I found a charity that supports that a family member suffers from an donated it all, it's not the same as giving actual cash but it meant that I was happy to give it all away, possibly a bit rash at the time but I needed the stuff to be gone.

Anything new and unworn especially with tags on or designer. Charity shop the rest.

It depends on your threshold. If you are doing loads at once, AND have the app, then listing 10 items takes very little time. And not does packing or posting them. So selling for £4-£5 per item brings in enough to buy something new. But trapsing back and forth to the post office with an item a time is a complete pain in the...
