Urban walking shoes

Not exactly s&b but advice here is so good! I've decided to make sure the dog and I get at least an hour's evening walk midweek and that usually means walking on tarmac round the city / down the sea front.
Walking boots are overkill and converse aren't cushioned enough because we walk fast. Any ideas for good shoes/trainers?
I got some slip-on sketchers a couple of years ago for the same purpose but they felt too soft for pounding pavements and every now and then I got this shooting pain along the bottom of my foot.

I bought a pair of these Legero trainers last year - I find them really comfortable and they have some arch support.

I really like the look of those ones, thanks. The only problem is there are no stockists near me and I'd prefer to be able to try them - returns always seem a bit of a hassle.

I would go for a pair of sports trainers. I have Nike ones that are very comfy. They dry quickly if rained in and are easy to wash if they get dirty. Even the skechers that are not slip on are good. The ones with memory foam. Not the most fashionable but great for dog walking.

I live in fit flops in the summer.

Thanks both! I have some fit flops and like the thick sole but it's too cold for me to wear anything open. I think I will try on some trainers later today - are the sketchers trainers quite different from the slip on ones?

I have some walking shoes which are like a trainer in style but more sturdy. Got them from Yeomans. I do a lot of walking and live in an urban area, find them really comfortable

Good to know thanks.I have a pair of Brasher shoes which are comfortable for walking in the countryside but I find they are not cushioned enough for pavements. But those ones look more trainer-like, I'll try somewhere like Cotswolds too this afternoon.
