Fake tan has a horrid smell !

Can anyone recommend one that doesn't smell of old biscuits ?
They all seem to smell the same

I use Dior Bronze fake tanning oil natural glow - which actually smells quite nice and is lovely to use, with very natural colour (I'm naturally very pale though).

James Read products also smell ok in my experience.

The St. Tropez daily tanner had a disgusting smell. I have never re purchased it.

I read it depends upon the individual and how it reacts with them. I have had people say to me that StTropez doesn't smell. It does on me. I think the only thing you can do is apply it a day or so when you aren't going out and then wash it off when it has developed. That way you can exfoliate any bits that have taken too much.

Bellamianta genuinely doesn't smell.

Vita Liberata is the least bad I've found but there is still a v faint smell.

There are two issues, aren't there?

1. The 'added perfume' - which can be pleasant or extremely unpleasant (St Tropez Daily Tanner aerosol stuff, I'm looking at you).

2. The DHA reaction smell which arises after it has been on for a few minutes.

Some people seem to have more of a problem with the DHA smell than others - not sure if this is because some people genuinely can't smell it, or because some people's skin reacts more 'smellily' than others, or both!

I find I can smell it on myself very strongly within minutes of applying even the most dilute versions.

As DHA is in just about all fake tanning products (no matter what they say about their 'great smell') it's hard to avoid. You could try bathing in tea?!

I remember feeling very annoyed when I learnt about the body chemistry thing. All fake tans honk on me. Like really, really stink. I've given up and use wash off stuff if I ever want a bit of colour.

Apparently the smell is worse if you have a lot of collagen in your skin. I'm taking a crumb of comfort from that since collagen is good, isn't it?

I like that. I must be full of the stuff.

A lady local to me comes to the house and does a spray tan for £8. I think it's Sienna tan she uses but it's the only one I don't despise because of the smell. St Tropez, Clarins, Fake Bake, Skinny Tan, you name it, I've tried it. Sienna is the winner. Bondi Sands is also good, noticeable smell but nowhere near as strong as others.

I think that one in Primark isn't meant to smell, Coco something? I've never tried it.
Don't whatever you do buy the Palmers cocoa butter with gradual tan, it smells of super sweet Terry's chocolate orange
