Doing my own false nails

I am thinking that it would be cheaper to buy a box of clear/bare elegant touch oval/stilletto shaped nails (think there is about 200 in a box) and just glue them on myself and paint over the top?

My friend who gets hers done by a great beautician but it costs her £40 for a new set, every month. That's £480 a year minimum, just on nails.

Is it just me or is that ridiculous?

I use Elegant Touch all the time to cover broken or split nails - never done a full set, but they're easy to use and paint. I'd buy some extra glue from Amazon or similar if I were you - look for glue with a brush applicator, 'cos the glue that comes with the ET nails - although it's good and works - the bottle tends to block up after a few uses and it's a bugger to get out!

She's paying 40 for infills? That's crazy! 40 is expensive but worth it for very good ones for a full which you have first. You can get a great set for 30-35. Avoid the 20-25 places. But they after that it's just infills. They don't need. Removing and reapplying each time. Infills are usually significantly cheaper than a full set.

£40. for an infill. Where I go its £18 for a infill and £22 for a new set. I mean I obviously leave a tip, as well.
£40 is ludicrous.

I've never had problems with my false nails or infills

I pay 35 for infils and 50 for a full set that includes gel polish on top though and they last me 3 weeks
