Did you keep your wedding dress or sell it?

Just interested in what others have done. I got married last week and originally planned to sell the dress but I love it so much I don't know if I can bear to. It was part of such a special day but then again I won't wear it again and we have plenty of photos. It will just sit in a box forever apart from maybe the odd peek, so am I better to just try and sell it?

Here it is just to show you. Someone suggested I could have it cut down into a shorter dress, but is it too 'weddingy' for that?

I donated mine to a charity shop in the end as I had missed the boat for selling it - I didn't realise that the second-hand shops would only take them if they were less than 2 years old. If I was getting married now I wouldn't choose a "wedding dress" in the usual sense and I'd just keep it, like my mum, who got married in the 60s in a plain dark blue fitted dress. It became her "best dress" for the next few years.

You can wash a lot of wedding dresses yourself for those who have dirty dresses . Most of them under £1500-2000 are made of polyester and wash really well .

I got married in a midi length red lace dress, thinking I can absolutely wear that again..and of course now I can't get into it. One day though!

I was going to give mine to a charity shop. But I went in to ask about it, and they had a Halloween display up, where they’d dressed up the mannequins as zombie brides, including fake blood all over the dresses. The dresser were very out of date, puffy sleeved types, but I could bear the thought of my beautiful dress becoming a Halloween decoration!

Now it’s sitting in a box under my bed whilst I decide.

Mine is vacuum packed in a box in the loft. Have DDs but I can't see them wanting to wear it.
It's about 20 years old now and it seems very dated to me.

Mine was red and not traditional. In the 3 years since I got it I've worn it 4 times to various events. The price per wear keeps going down. 😁
