Honest oppinions wanted please about my daughters bob. Thinking of having it fixed.

Hi, this is my daughters bob. I asked for a normal bob that sits just under her jaw line. He's done what looks like an inverted bob, which is fine as she has very thick hair. I don't want it any shorter on the sides as it's only just to the jaw line as it is. It just doesn't look right to me somehow. You can see quite chunky lines when she moves her head around and that bit at the back of the neck seems too thick and spoils the line of it I think.
I'm not a hairdresser, but just feel that this isn't the best cut. If I'm wrong then please tell me. I'm thinking of making an appointment to have it altered a bit. Do you think anything can be done, or should I wait for it to grow out more?

My inverted bob looked a bit like this. I also have thick hair with a slight wave. Was it a wet cut? I think it's possible that the hairdresser didn't anticipate how it would sit once dry. The edges will soften as it grows, not sure how it can be fixed (but I'm not a hair dresser).

What does your daughter want?

She has got lovely hair though

A bob suits her.
Its not the greatest cut at the back but its not awful either. I'd be inclined to leave it and go elsewhere next time.

I'd go back and ask for the back to be tidied up. It'd look better if it was neater (shorter) round the nape of the neck. It'd grow out better too. At the moment it looks a bit messy and unstyled at the back.

I don't think you can do much more til it grows if you want it to be an one length straight bob.

I assume your DD has give permission for these pictures to be posted?

How does she feel about the cut?

Thank you, my daughter couldn't care less. :-D She has learning difficulties and a form of autism and just wants it short so that it doesn't hurt when brushed. I've told her it's growing fast and may need a little trim soon, which she was fine about. She said "yes, trim it. I don't want it to grow." I'm not going to tell her it's being fixed, as she is quite sensitive.

It does look very hacked at, I wouldn't use the same hairdresser again (your mum's hairdresser I believe?!).
I would get it neatened up. Don't be tempted to tidy it yourself any more xx

I have a similar style, although at the nape of the neck mine is shorter. I think under the circumstances I would just leave it as it is, and at the next cut, just have the back changed slightly. It is not awful at all though.

Was her hair blow dried at the hairdressers? When she washes it, does it automatically fall into that style without too much blow-drying and straightening? I just ask as mine in a pita sometimes as it wont fall how it should.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go to a different hairdresser and have it tidied a bit. I've reported my own post to ask for it to be deleted. I noticed that these pics are far to recognisable and I should've covered her face to avoid her being recognised by anyone. She isn't really able to give her permission either as wouldn't fully understand. So thanks everyone for your advice. I think a bit of a tidy up at the back and babe some softening of those lines.

It looks ok - admittedly not as salon-finished as some styles, but not horrendous!

Would it be better slightly closer cropped at the back? Easier to style maybe, when her hair is thick & wavy. More importantly, fewer opportunities for tuggy hair when brushing it.

Yes, that looks much better! I'd be happy with that.

I think it looks lovely. It would look smoother with a product like serum. I wouldn't bother for every day but if you wanted it sleeker you could straighten it.

I will get some straighteners too. A bob does suit her, it's just that when she's had it in the past it's looked better and been easier to style.

It didn't look a good cut but ime a bob like when you have think hair needs a LOT of up keep with blow-drying and straightening.

I wouldn't go back to the same hairdresser, they didn't do it right the first time I wouldn't give them a second chance.
