Really boring question but I've finally stopped biting my nails. Can anyone recommend a really good nail file and why it's so good. Thanks.

I like the glass ones, they seem to stay sharp forever.

Tesco value black 2 pack nail files
Last about 6 months I have one at home one in my bag. Don't get accuse of having a potentially lethal weapon and when they break or get blunt it's no great drama to get a new pack

Leighton Denny glass nail file. You can use it back and forth rather than in one direction, which I find easier, doesn't lose it's efficacy and comes in a rigid plastic case so it won't break in your handbag.

Optimist1 · 23/04/2016 20:50

Yes, Leighton Denny is well worth the money - it has a lifetime guarantee, too. I prefer the larger size to the small one.

deathb4decaf · 23/04/2016 20:54

Yep Leighton Denny glass file all the way, for all the reasons stated above. You can rinse it under water to keep it clean. It's worth the money as you shouldn't need to buy another one!

Not head of Leighton Denny but will be looking. I love my OPI glass one. It's amazing.

goddessofsmallthings · 24/04/2016 00:14

OPI's crystal nail file is kind to nails, but I prefer Leighton Denny's as it seems to do the job a lot quicker.

My Leighton Denny seems to clog up and become ineffective after two nails Confused
What am I doing wrong?

HungoverLikeaSpunMoorhenChick · 24/04/2016 07:33

Rinse it off/wipe with a damp cloth and it works again. Mine does this as I have "dusty" nails - even manicurists have commented on how much white dust they produce.

Spadequeen · 24/04/2016 09:05

Thanks I will have a look. I've tried glass ones in the past but not got on with them as I do t like the feel. But will give it another go.

LOL Grin at having dusty nails

Gives me the shivers too Spade

I'm searching for a decent metal file

Optimist1 · 24/04/2016 19:09

I know what you mean about the feel of the glass ones, Spade, but I found that applying less pressure helped considerably. Three or four very light strokes are as effective as one or two heavier ones. A slight change in technique might win you over to the glass side! Smile

Well I'll be shopping on Monday and let you know what I got! Still surprised I've bitten them all off yet!
