FULL INGREDIENTS
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Emollient), Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (Emollient), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil/Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent - Occlusive), Camelina Sativa Seed Oil (Emollient), Rosa Canina Fruit Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent - Emollient), Nigella Sativa Seed Oil (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-t-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate (Antioxidant), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil/Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary Leaf ) Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Origanum Majorana Leaf Oil (Refreshing Agent), Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Lavandula Angustifolia Oil/Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil (Natural Additive), Lavandula Hybrida Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel Oil/Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil (Fragrance Ingredient)

As you can see the first and largest ingredient is good old olive oil, second good old jojoba, then in decreasing amounts camellia, rosehip, camellia seed oil, black cumin, tocopherol, which is basically vitamin E but also acts as a form of preservative, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-t-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate helps to preserve shelf life of product, the rest are essential/fragrance oils.

See, there is nothing fancy about this oil at all, really basic stuff. You could easily make your own. You don't need the antioxidants in your home made oil.
Or you could dig in your pockets and give the bodyshop a hefty profit.

There are also other oils which I think are fantastic for the skin, oils such as emu, tamanu, marula, baobab and argan.

You can get bottles of chamomile and frankincense oil to use in your oils.
If you look at Niels yard oil ingredient list you would also find it to be pretty basic and pretty expensive.

Thank you BigButtons

That list looks quite daunting so thanks for breaking it down.
Wouldn't the initial outlay be expensive for all the ingredients though.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 23/04/2016 10:53

Oh I am going to do it.

I was tempted last year but it all seemed so daunting- as did the Korean stuff. Now we are starting afresh, it's nice to hear what definitely is recommended. I am going to get the Haba Labo wozzit I think, and have a bash at the oil making. Obv I have my father in law's homegrown olive oil ha ha!

bigbuttons · 23/04/2016 11:25

Yes, it does look daunting, I agree! However, you don't need all the extra essential oils.
The initial outlay doesn't have to be expensive. You can buy small a bottles of the oils you want. I always buy on eBay and I can choose the price I want to pay.

Also I find it quite fun look look up fancy ingredient names and find out what they are and what they do. In most commercial cosmetic products the ones with the fancy chemical names are emulsifiers ( they bind water and oil products together), stabilisers , thickeners and preservatives. They aren't active ingredients. By making your own you know exactly what's in it and you know how fresh it is.

I looked up the kiss the moon oil. That's an outrageous price. Again there is nothing magical in there to justify the price tag, no ground unicorn horn harvested by faries!

Smells amazing though

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 23/04/2016 13:43

I used the nip and fab pads but prefer the dragons blood to the glycolic. Seen to work better on spotty skin due to salicylic acid. Noticed another improvement in my skin since giving up refined carbs too!

piddleypower · 25/04/2016 22:31

Well I found your original thread about a month ago and read the whole thing from start to finish. Thank you, thank you!! Yes I am months behind, but it was a total revelation to me and I am so glad I found it and so grateful you had all posted such amazing and useful stuff.

I developed a routine based on what you all and CH recommended and started about three weeks ago. Already seeing a difference, so keen to see what you are all saying a year on.

The best thing for me was to get stuff on line and not have to brave the scary counter women in Boots. The stuff from companies I have never heard of is better and cheaper - hurray!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 27/04/2016 08:28

I dug out my Boots Lift and Luminate serum in honour of this thread....as I said, serum has been a bit missing apart from the Superdrug Pure hydrating one, which is hydrating (no shit) but nothing much else.

After 3 days morning and night I can see the most incredible difference. Oh Boots, how could I ever have doubted you....I used the P&P years ago when it first came out and you had to pay people hundreds of pounds and meet them in dodgy warehouses to get hold of it Grin and was impressed then. Don't know why I ever stopped using it. (I suppose because I'm always on the look out for the next Holy Grail)

It's got silicones, but it doesn't make your other skincare/makeup pull like a lot of other silicone products.

I'm going to get the new P/P when this runs out, but by god it's good. My face is smooth and glowy.

bigbuttons · 28/04/2016 21:50

later that's good to hear. I might get some. My problem with cones has been that they stop my sun cream sinking in. I have been cleansing, oiling, using my dupe oil and then using sun cream. I would love to be able to put on a serum before the oil. Can you give more details on how it has made a difference?

piddly really glad it has helped. Keep us updated!

Is the lift and luminate the same as p&p?

OP posts:
ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 29/04/2016 06:14

I don't think so, but with clever marketing etc who knows? I remember reading aaaages ago that Boots Time Delay serum was exactly the same as P/P but cost far less. Never checked it out though.

I used to have P/P but my Mum got me the L/L in a gift set the other Christmas by virtue of me being in the L/L age bracket. I see that since then there is a L/L revamp and also a P/P advanced intense (I had the original I think)

The effect is just overall smooth (as you'd expect from silicones) but unlike with a primer, it lasts. I'm rubbing my fingers over my face as I type and the skin surface is definitely smoother than last week. I have small breakouts of rosacea as well, they come and go, and they've all but disappeared. Cheekbone area looks glowy.

Now if only it would hoik my entire face about 2 inches upwards and those tramlines between nose and mouth would go.

That's what I need really, something to deal with my lines. No wrinkles as such, because I've never done sunbathing, and always looked after my skin. Just the 11s and the nose mouth lines. If I stand on my head I look 18. Grin
