"informal" interview next week - what to wear?

right, I have an interview with a new media agency type place next week. they said it will be an informal 1/2 hour interview with informal dress code.

dear god what should I wear?

I have a black aline skirt with some abstract geometric designs on (topshop couple of seasons ago) which looks ok with a black crossover cotton shirt and some wedge heeled green suede boots (there is green in the skirt). Would that be ok? they are based in London Soho so I guess likely to be trendy...

I'm not so good at trendy and my dress style is a bit eccentric at times, can be a bit hit and miss.

does the above sound more miss than hit???

nope, sounds ideal - meeja jobs often appreciate creativity when it comes to clothes in a way that eg law firms don't.

That spunds fine to me, oherwise I'd suggest maybe a shift stle dress with a proper cardi, which is how I play these things (by proper you now the sort- cotton, samrt, mine has 3/4 sleeves)

But your outfit sounds right on the ball. They want to get to know YOU- rushing out to buy something ultra trendy (and probably unflattering) isn't going to dot hat is it?

(And anyway who over of , well actually WHO looks good in hot pants and a smcok anywY??? I ask you!!! Kids these day )]

yes that sounds fine to me too
I like the sound of the boots particularly
good luck

thanks guys

the boots are fairly high heeled wedge jobs. the only thing I am not sure about with them is that the bit around the calf isn't fitted, so it kind of falls down a bit slouchily from the knee. Is that ok? (they were in a knock off discount shoe shop in covent garden a couple of months ago and I've never been absolutely sure about them, although they make me look quite tall and longlegged which of course I like)

so long as they look slouchy on purpose and you don't keep nervously hitching at them, should be fine.
Besides if they make you look tall and long-legged they sound like they give you just the kind of confidence you need for an interview.

jeangenie · 10/01/2007 15:50

no I won't be nervously hitching at them, I'll just let them slouch and be nervous about everything else instead!

(BTW peachyclair I nearly fell off the chair laughing at the thought of me wandering along in hot pants and a smock, now that'd be a sight not for the faint hearted )
