Combo of being covered with tights and too hot baths probably. You could grate cheese on them. Any suggestions? Preferably something that really soaks in - I seem to have very unabsorbent skin!

Aveeno - the one with the blue label (Skin Relief).

I had very dry flaky skin on my shins, which I'd tried to moisturise etc for ages. I went to my GP re another matter &after a blood test was diagnosed with under active thyroid. Within a few weeks of starting treatment, the skin improved significantly. I'm not trying to do an 'armchair diagnosis ', just mentioned as there may be an under laying medical reason. Nutrition may also play a part. Hope your condition improves soon OP.

Do you think this thread will end up in an MN 'Swears by...'? Grin

Oops, I meant re Aveeno!

I have this all the time unless I use, every day to start off with, but then every two to three days, flexitol moisturiser for feet and legs. It is 10% urea, and it really works. Miy shins especially get very, very dry and also itchy, all year round. My knees get incredibly dry, and I swear by flexitol with 10% urea. They sell it in boots and super drug.

Dove do a pampering oil, £10 in Boots, less than £2 in Home Bargains, really nice

Bramble71 · 06/05/2018 19:26

Aveeno do an after-shower spray which I use while the skin on my legs is still a little bit damp. This has helped my skin quite a bit, though I also use a moisturiser called Cetraben afterwards. I have psoriasis in other areas and this is what my GP prescribed. I reckon it's pretty good.

WipsGlitter · 06/05/2018 19:37

I've been using Aveeno bath oil which is great but makes the bath lethally slippy! And Aveeno cream afterwards. Legs much improved!

I have this problem too!

Dry brush with a firm brush before showering, after your shower pat your skin with a towel so it's still damp, apply baby oil first then a nourishing cream like Aveeno (or a supermarket version). This is really effective and after a few times you can skip the baby oil step.

TheClitterati · 06/05/2018 22:05

The best thing I ever did for my skin is take oil supplements - either fish oil or flax seed oil. After a few weeks, no more dry skin!

ChishandFips33 · 06/05/2018 22:30

Aveeno!
My mum's legs were actually scaley and Aveeno had them so soft in no time
