Removing make up daily?

I'm 43 and wear make up everyday. Is it really bad that I hardly ever remove it before I go to bed? It is aging or is it just for cleanliness reasons?

It's bad. Surely you don't lie on dirty pillowcases?

It's for hygiene, skin health and comfort.

clutterfly · 07/04/2016 23:06

Both I would say. Just think of the build up on your pillow as well as your skin!

I always do, because I like to give my skin a chance to 'breathe' at night and there's something about taking the day off and flushing it away!

You need to double cleanse if you wear makeup. Going to bed with a beautifully cleansed and moisturised face is bliss.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/04/2016 23:12

Do you just wash it off next morning then or pile another layer on top? Grin

Or is it just eye make up you wear and not foundation? I'm imagining orange pillowcases...

Tootsiepops · 07/04/2016 23:14

Might be rubbish, but I read that sleeping in your make up ages you 5 days. So I don't do it anymore vain

I just hate the feeling of mascara clumped all over my eyelashes in the morning. Sometimes if I can't quite be bothered to take it off properly I just run a cotton wool pad soaked in micellar water over my face before cleaning my teeth and its dry before bedtime. Obviously better to do a full cleanse but it stops me breaking out.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I'm in the minority then! I don't have so much make up at the end of the day that my pillow is orange! It's pretty much all off then - and I do wash my bedding at least once a week. However, I agree it is nice to go to bed with a nice clean, moisturised face. Will tighten up by beauty regime from now on. Thanks! xx

Get into the habit of taking your make up off as soon as you get home. I find if I'm tired, I get lazy.

SwedishEdith · 08/04/2016 17:00

I never do. I'll take looking 5 days older.

nanetterose · 08/04/2016 17:10

Is it just five days forever?
Or does it start to accumulate?

five days & five days ... Grin
