braces for teeth - in my 40s

I used to have braces when I was in my teens...but I did not manage to wear them till all my teeth were fixed etc...would it be wise to do it in my 40s? It is just my face - it is twisted to one side because of the teeth misalignment...

Absolutely. Go for it. I know lots of people over 40 with braces. I'm hoping to get them myself once my sons teeth are sorted.

Definitely go for it. I'm mid 40's and 4 weeks into having my teeth straightened with a removable brace. I had a brace as a teen but didn't have a retainer so my teeth have gradually moved back to their original crooked state.

Check out Invisalign, this really helped me.

My Aunty has just got the train track ones at age 55. Dentist reckons she will need them for eighteen months and she is determined to see it through. She has had it for 8 weeks and says that her bottom teeth have already straightened up significantly.

However she says it is painful. She is finding it hard to eat and has lost eight pounds (some might say thats a nice side-effect!) plus even talking is different and she is lisping a bit. Depends what brace you might need and how determined you are I think.

I'm halfway through Invisalign treatment, and really noticing the difference. And I know someone who had train tracks as an adult. If it is impacting on you (and it sounds quite serious if it is twisting your face) then I would definitely say get it done. Mine are already easier to clean (they were crowded at the front) so hopefully getting them straightened will mean less problems with decay etc in future. Although obviously there's a need to clean very carefully when you have a brace.
