make-up lesson

I'd really love to have a professional make-up lesson, but the store counters and salons I know of are all allied to specific brands.
Rather than, say, going to Clinique and getting everything they suggest, I'd really like to meet an independent person with knowledge of all the product ranges who could mix and match between brands so I'd end up with my perfect make-up collection.
Does anyone know of a person or company which offers this? I don't live in London, by the way, which probably limits it!

run by the 10 years younger woman so if she did it youd look like a person made up in a morgue.

in London though

Go to a beauty salon. Most of them do 'make-up lessons.' and if you ask the therapist what high-street make-up is a good brand, they'll likely tell you.

I know because I'm a beauty therapist myself!!

at £1000 for jemma kidd for 2 hrs!

ggirl - dopey and confused - are you referring to other posts or Gemma kidd going to a beauty salon (I'm still very much not awake yet!!!!)

Thanks for your input, folks. Don't think I can spring £1,000 for Jemma Kidd's words of wisdom though!
Funkimummy - would the beauty therapist be happy to recommend brands other than the one(s) she sells? My local beauty salon isn't very good. Last time I had my legs waxed, I ended up with a huge bruise on my thigh. I wouldn't be too confident about their make-up skills either!

Birdly,

go to www.babtac.co.uk to find a list of registered therapists and make-up artists in your area.

I can happily recommend high street products that I think are worthy. Not all salons may allow their staff to give you advice about high street cosmetics, but generally most therapists will.

I agree not to go back to your original salon. Bruising of the thigh from waxing would indicate an incredibly poor waxing style!!
