I want to tear off my skin

Started suffering from seborrheic dermatitis on my face when I was around 21. Dermatologist prescribed a steroid cream but neglected to tell me that over time it would thin my skin. I never overused it when having a flare up but did use it for about 12 years so if did have an effect.

I got the dermatitis under kind of control using certain face washes etc but they were expensive so when I ran out I switched to a different brand - dermatologica pre cleanse to body shop camomile cleansing oil and switched Vichy serums. But my skin has reacted so badly I want to claw it off.

For those of you with sensitive skin, what do you use?

OP- not sure if you still have dermatitis because you said it was under control, but there are newer creams other than steroids that can be used on the face and don't cause thinning. They are called tacrolimus- brand name is Protopic. Your GP can't prescribe- just a dermo.

I stopped using the steroid cream when i got pregnant but the damage was done by then.

It is pretty under control. Normally I just have a bit of redness that can be easily covered by make up but it went bonkers after we put the stove on a few nights, think it was the heat. Stress also doesn't help and think my hormones are out of sorts after 2 miscarriages in 4 months.

I live in a small town and there's only one dermatologist, he's the one who diagnosed me with seb derm. I went back about 5 years ago because my skin when bonkers, he barely looked at me and said I had acne (I really didn't) then suggested microdermabrasion (a serious no for those with seb derm).

Going to make a list of things to try (but slowly, one at a time and not in the middle of a flare up!)

Thanks all!

I don't think any cleanser can beat Cetaphil. I have started using the Paula's Choice calm range. The serum really calms my skin down.

Another fan of moogoo here. The shampoo and conditioner is great and their moisturisers are fabulous.

Avene do a couple of moirsturisers to calm irritated skin.

Moogoo scalp cream is formulated for seb derm and it's all I use now. I conly developed it last winter, tried the steroid cream but it came back (as it always does) as soon as I stopped using it.
Found a aeb derm/roseacea firum after hours of googling, recommending a raw honey mask followed by coconut oil protocol. Took about two weeks and the honey itchws like mad at first but it draws it out, then a thin layer of coconut oil overnight.
Sounds completely mad but it does work. I now cleanse only with raw honey and use scalp cream to moisturise. I get the odd itchy spot if I wear foundation or a different moisturiser, but it goes after a couple of days of honey/scalp cream.
Once you've tried it you'll never go back to the endless search for comfort.

When it's bad I just use almond oil.
