Can I wear a dress with tights and converse at 33?

I bought a cute dress from Mantaray yesterday and have a multitude of cute cardis it goes with. I have a pair of black converse and wondered if I could do the whole look at my age??

I wear ballet flats a lot but end up feeling a bit dowdy. Trying to make it a bit funkier but will I look daft? I generally live in skinny jeans and converse or boots and various tops and t shirts. I probably dress younger anyway but don't want to end up looking a twonk.

Anyone else do it?

Course !
I saw a lovely elderly lady last week in a white stuff shirt , chinos and grey converse and she was some fab woman !

I think tights and Converse can look a bit Emo, so it depends if you mind about that or not. I'm much older than you though and sometimes still wear my hair in pigtails though, so I say wear whatever you like, if you like it!

Tights with trainers/converse make me cringe - nothing to do with age - I didn't even like the look on my DDs when they were young.

I would wear that and I am 48.

I would have chunky socks on as well though. I was an 80s kid.

Actually I thought the limit on this sort of behaviour was 31 and a quarter?????

Cointreau - tights and Converse make me cringe too (teenage emos excepted).

I'be been trying to put a finger on why, and I think the reason is that Converse are a sort of trainer. Ie intended for walking or doing exercise in. Whereas teaming them with tights for that sort of thing would only give you sweaty feet. They don't "go" together.

It's a bit like teaming a fleece (outdoor wear) with a handbag (not for walking up hills with). Or jogging bottoms (fitness gear) with ankle boots (definitely not for training in). Something just jars, somehow.

That probably makes no sense, and if you like the look, OP, then obviously that's up to you - just trying to figure out why it seems wrong to me!

I always struggled as well as I associate tights with shoes. Seen lots of people do it though. I will be honest I'm normally leggings as I like the gap but I think I'll give tights a go.

I would

I wear vans with tights - usually the same colour. I like it. I HATE lady like shoes and only wear them to weddings and the like.

I have to have my legs covered as I am always bruised due to high dose steroids.

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 26/03/2016 19:30

If I can wear it at 49 I think you'll be fine 😊

RedMapleLeaf · 26/03/2016 20:30

What are the youngsters wearing nowadays then?

hugoagogo · 26/03/2016 20:50

Hi or low?

albertcampionscat · 26/03/2016 21:13

Dear Lord yes. Converse are mostly worn by the over 30s, no?
