So what brand make up are teens using these days?

When I was 15 it was all about Avon, Boots No 7 and that was about it. It's my neices birthday soon and I'm guessing a Heather Shimmer lippie isn't quite going to cut the mustard so I'm looking for ideas. She's daft about make up.

My DD is nearly 14yo.

She loves her Real Technique brushes, her Beauty Blender
Benefit make-up (she uses the "They're Real" Eyelash Primer , Hoola, High Beam, Gimme Brow)

Barry M, Boots Collection.

DD does the whole 'contouring' thing, my brain explodes.

Does she have her brows done? Maybe take her to get them threaded and buy her some brow wax .

Makeup revolution or NYX are nice and not pricey.

My DD is only just getting started with make-up. I bought her some nice Benefit stuff at Christmas, and some cheaper stuff from Boots too. Also showed her good techniques with brushes, and she has also pinched some of my things.

It is more expensive, but some of it looks nice and natural. Fortunately at the moment, my DD favours the natural look.

A lovely gift that a teen wouldn't buy for themselves is a really good mascara - my DD uses Dior Addict - my DS buys it for her! Otherwise they all buy Rimmell etc from Superdrug after spending hours fiddling about with stuff and making a nuisance of themselves out of pocket money

Benefit, NYX, Mac & Urban decay. Though I always see crowds of teens hanging around the MUA stand in Superdrug (most stuff is £1, so you can get loads for your money)

How much do you want to spend?

Up to £30 - I'd go for an Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow set or a Benefit Hoola - This set looks good Hoola set
Up to £15 - one of the Benefit minis sets like this one

My DD (13) loves Mac, Nars, Urban Decay, Benefit and Real Techniques plus all the Tanya Burr and Zoella stuff which you can get from Superdrug. Buying her something would be tricky though because she'd prefer a specific product or colour. I agree that a Naked palette would be a pretty safe bet, if you get Naked Basics I think that's 'only' about £25.

It drives me nuts how girls are into all these expensive brands, I blame the bloggers - at that age I was using Avon testers because my mum was a rep and it didn't do me any harm etc etc .
