I can drive in heels but it's usually only if I'm going out. IN the day I've usually got flatter boots or trainers on.

DizzyBint · 05/01/2007 18:32

i have a good friend who can only drive in bare feet.

HonorMatopoeia · 05/01/2007 18:34

I appear to have developed the ability to drive in any type of shoe or height of heel!

mumatuks · 05/01/2007 18:35

Just read your question and realised I don't even own a pair of healed shoes!
I just wear trainers ( never go out posh, not with three young kids!)

I like driving in just bare feet / socks if driving a long distance though.

swedishmum · 05/01/2007 18:37

I usually take high shoes off, but mainly because I don't want scuff marks down the heels. It ruins shoes, especially if the heels are covered with suede.

Bozza · 05/01/2007 18:52

I can drive any which way - heels, flat, flip flops, bare etc. The only advantage to driving shoes would be not wrecking my other shoes. Even DH's workshoes get wrecked by driving - but he does do a lot of miles in them.

MrsBadger · 05/01/2007 18:54

I'm with swedishmum - I can drive in most shoes but don't drive in suede or in heels because it's not very good for them - I keep a pair of ballet flats in the porch for putting out bins etc and usually end up driving in them if I'm wearing something unsuitable.

Isn't it illegal to drive with bare feet ?

I don't like driving in heels, so I tend to wear flatter shoes to drive and then change into heels when I arrive (on the rare ocassion that I actually go anywhere warranting heels).

CatBert · 05/01/2007 18:59

Apparently it's not actually illegal - the bare feet driving thing.

I used to work with a guy whose gfriend was a barefooter - NEVER wore shoes, unless lifting heavy equipment as part of her job (doc martins) and she carried a pair of ballet slippers around with her, as she was often refused entry into clubs without them on. Other than that - never wore shoes, and therefore knew all about the driving thing.

And yes - even in the rain, snow, everything. Never.

But slightly off topic. I can drive in anything - but once I tried to have a pair of driving shoes to save my work ones, but kept forgetting to change them, so it was all rather pointless!

themoon66 · 05/01/2007 19:04

Catbert... didn't she worry about getting her toes trodden on in clubs and pubs etc?

RosaLuxembourg · 05/01/2007 22:50

Or dogpoo on the pavement? You wouldn't go barefoot round where I live.

MrsSpoon · 07/01/2007 21:52

Dog poo, bare feet, yeuk!

I can and do drive in anything too. DH goes nuts when I wear my Birkenstocks to drive in.

I must be getting old though as I am starting to think a pair of driving shoes would be an idea.
