Hair disaster

I asked my hairdresser to cut choppy layers into largely one length long hair. I said to her i didn't want it too shaped at the front as it tended to go wispy but to have more blunt chinky layers. Maybe I didn't explain myself right. My hair is naturally poker straight. She curled it in the shop so it looked great but now that I have blow dried it myself it just looks like it's has been gone at with a hacksaw. Totally uneven and just looks a mess. I am gutted as it means i am going to have to spend ages curling it every day to hide the mess.
I don't know how to explain what I want to a hairdresser. I just want layer at the front to give it some shape but want them to sit nicely when my hair is straight. Do I go back? I don't really want any more taking off. It's going to take ages to grow it out. Maybe I should just give in and have my hair all one length.

You're right it looked nice on the day. The layers do look uneven in your first pics but how would it look if you dried it to go slightly under?

At least your hair is long enough to be able to rectify it by having it cut again if you don't get on with it.

Looks lovely curled but i can see the problem straight, as someone else said just needs chipping into deffos go back to salon and ask. Only a 5 / 10 min job.

It looks nice how the hairdresser finished it on the day, however on the pics you showed us, it does look a bit like a toddler has taken sissors to your hair....sorry, I know it's upsetting when you don't like your hair, but it can be sorted.

I think, you definitely need to go back, show those pics to your hairdresser, so she can see why you are unhappy, it may be just so she can show you how to blow dry/style your hair, if you are still not happy, I'd ask for a refund & book somewhere else for a trim/restyle.

Crikey! Definetly go back. Looks beautiful when it was curled but no way should it look the way it does when you blow dry it. It is like a toddler has got scissors and cut you hair. Hope you have either got it sorted or have made an appointment.

I lopped my hair off and it looks better than that. Please go back!

What did you mean when you asked for "choppy" layers? She's dine them "blocky" but it is maybe a misunderstanding.

On the rare occasion I see a proper hairdresser, I get a layer but tell them it needs to blend and not really look like layers ( just because I have thick hair which I occasionally thin out a bit).

I think it's fairly easy to sort, she just needs to blend them.

I guess I was trying to avoid that sort of 90's feathered look when I said more chunky layers.

I know what you mean by avoiding the feathered look. I'm wondering if you actually wanted soft layers?

I completely get you not wanting to go back. This happened to me a month back my hair had grown in a year super fast from a short inverted bob to past my shoulders. I went in wanting an inch off and some layers but she cut all the layers chin length or shorter. So I had this massive gap with wispy long hair underneath. I cried the next day after I washed it so went to a different hairdresser and had it all cut to chin length with no more layers. I really like it and will keep it like this. But my lord the thought of having to go back and ask for it to be sorted with the original hairdresser made me so anxious I just couldn't do it.
