Is Babyliss big hair still the bees knees or are there better similar competitor products out there?

So I've only just heard of the BBH phenomenon and I'm thinking of getting one to tame my frizzy wavy long hair. Seeing as I'm 4 or 5 years late to the BBH party I thought I'd just check if it is still rated well or if there are other better products out there that do the same kind of thing.

Is it really that much quicker than using straighteners? I'm super low maintenance (aka a mum-bun addict) so needs to be quick and simple to use

Yeah, mine didn't last many years, I think I had 18 months of daily use out of it, two years at best. Which isn't brilliant, and I hadn't kept my receipt. So I resolved to keep a spare in the cupboard, as I really can't manage without some sort of 'finishing' appliance. And the spare gets used for travel, gym etc, so that I can keep the 'main' appliance plugged in on my dressing table. DH finds all this quite perplexing, he doesn't quite get the concept of "emergency hair styling"!!

I save my Boots Advantage points, that's how I bought my last BBH.

Babyliss are really good at replacing BBH's that die too young. So it's worth stashing the box and/or receipt.

Actually a friend got a replacement BBH and she had neither box nor receipt.

I sometimes see them on offer, £10 ish less than usual. Guess it would be a good idea to stock up! and act as emergency resale agent

Well.....I'm about to try the Mark Hill Big and Bouncy rotating brush. I have the Babyliss Big Hair Rotating Brush. For those of you that have the Babyliss, I wonder if you have found that the bristles SPLAY OUT (chimney brush effect) after a couple of uses? It's great for the first couple of uses. The hair glides THROUGH the bristles, but thereafter, as the bristle ends are splayed out, my hair just SITS ON TOP of the brush. MOST ANNOYING!! If the Babyliss brush was improved so it does not splay, it's the best out there I think. My friend has the Mark Hill and said the bristles do not splay out, so I thinkI will try one.

I use mine from time to time and have to say I love it too. It gives you lovely sleek bouncy hair.

CalmItKermitt · 24/12/2016 21:28

Agree about the bristles splaying. Annoying because it doesn't work as well.

I've got the cheaper keratin babyliss thingy. Love it. Dries my hair much quicker and much neater. No extra volume though.

I've had 3 Babyliss Rotating brushes. They are okay for the first few uses, THEN the bristles SPLAY out, like an old toothbrush effect. I then found my hair was just SITTING on top of the bristles as the brush rotated, instead of GOING THROUGH my hair. I decided to.bite the bullet and go for the ROWENTA one. Mine is White and Pink. MORE EXPENSIVE than the Babyliss, but I'm getting FABULOUS results. It comes with TWO brush heads and can be used as an "okay" dryer with the brush head off. Bristles much better, a little splayed now, but still goes THROUGH my hair. A quick dip in VERY HOT water, then a SOAK in cold immediately brings bristles back perfectly straight. Love, love LOVE the ROWENTA one.
