Some questions.

Which colour is better for a bridesmaid - pale gold (champagne?) or pale green (sage colour).

Would gold shoes/sandals go with a pale green dress?

Ohhh the green sounds lovely and yep gold shoes would go imo.

caffeinequeen · 30/12/2006 15:57

TBH, depends how old hte bridesmaid is and on her colouring, n'est pas?

Smurfgirl · 30/12/2006 15:58

Both will be 24, both thin, both pale, one has blondey/brown hair the other one has brown hair.

Green, I think. Pale skin might look washed out in gold, I think.

QuootiepieTheNewYearsAss · 30/12/2006 16:35

Pale green.

vitomum · 30/12/2006 16:37

the green

crunchie · 30/12/2006 19:42

Wait!!!

Green at weddings is considered really really unlucky, however I am not keen on a pale gold either

KezzaG · 30/12/2006 19:44

I would agree and say green. Will the flowers and mens outfits all match if you go with the green?

I didnt know green was unlucky. If it is only referred to as sage and not actually green will that be ok?

Smurfgirl · 30/12/2006 19:52

Really crunchie pants.

Was planning on ivory, pale gold and sage colours with cream roses. Hmm. Everyone IRL I have mentioned green to frowns so I was beginning to wonder!

the colour scheme sounds lovely. I think without sage it would be too pale.

Bucketsofdynomite · 30/12/2006 20:04

Sage with gold shoes sounds nice but do get a chance to hold the fabric up to their faces first, it may not suit at all.

crunchie · 30/12/2006 20:17

smurfgirl, that would be why then!!

I used to work on wedding magazines and we were not even allowed to use green on the cover as strap lines or anything.

However yo could get plenty of green into your wedding with foilage and flowers.

I must admit I didn't go a bundle on 'colour schemes' for weddings - sorry - I would look at the colours that suit your bridemaids and go from there. What else needs to match the bridesmaids anyway???

BuffysMum · 30/12/2006 20:18

well I'm getting married in a khaki/sage green with bronze/antique gold embroidery and the girls are wearing goldish bridesmaids dresses thanks to Tesco at £12 each bargain! Still haven't sorted out flowers yet though. However I am a cream skinned redhead so they are "my" colours rather than ivory/white.

So I think sage is fab!

Twiglett · 30/12/2006 20:19

neither colour works with pale skin IMO .. sorry

Twiglett · 30/12/2006 20:19

think green and gold you need creamy to olive skin

BuffysMum · 30/12/2006 20:21

No colour suits all my dds - 3 are dark, one is blue eyed and very blonde TBH she looks unwell in nearly every colour!

FrayedKnotRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2006 20:24

Could you go for eau de nil / aqua instead?

Avoids the superstition & goes nicely with pale skin / pale gold.

Tiggly · 30/12/2006 20:46

I'm a bit of a big lass with mousey brown hair and blonde soft highlights, and my sister had pale gold as her choice for my bridesmaid dress. I thought I would look like a trussed up turkey but surprisingly the pale gold look much better on me than the claret red my other sister chose for me a year later (I am pale skinned and looked like a great big red blood cell!! ). My mother is big on her wedding traditions and says that green is very unlucky at a wedding, my mate had an emerald engagement ring and they sadly never made it down the altar.

BuffysMum · 30/12/2006 21:27

Was thinking of getting a fake tan anyway, def will give it a go now - lol!

Smurfgirl · 30/12/2006 21:51

I really want gold in the wedding - because I am using a wedding ring given to me by my grandma that is yellow gold so sort of went from there. Oh and I will be wearing pearls - which were my nana's.

I don't like red or pink or lilac at all so feel a bit stuck hmm.

Maybe I could spray tan my bridesmaids [bridezilla emoticon]

could you make the gold a more orange/russet colour? When are you getting married? It could look quite autumnul and very pretty.

actually, if you like gold and cream who cares what I think, you should have what you like

Bucketsofdynomite · 01/01/2007 18:57

My mum had emerald green velevet bridesmaids and she and my dad are having their 39th anniversary in a couple of weeks. HTH .
