Tell me about Next jeans

Used to work for Next about 15 or 16 years ago. Always remember trousers bought as uniform never fit too well. I'm very straight-up-and-down waist and hips wise, so trousers that fit round the waist were way to baggy around hips and thighs and trousers that fit on the hips left me unable to breathe.

Last pair of jeans I bought were Levi curve id slight curve ones which I love love love, but of course they don't do them any more and also Levis are pricey.

I love next for tops and floaty blouses. What do you reckon to their jeans? Also prefer a mid-rise as I hate having anything around my non-existent waist. Is that what their "standard rise" is?

Damn it. Ordered two pairs before seeing this thread.

Love Next jeans. Their sizing is right (e.g. a 12 is a 12) they stay in shape and the length for me is good. I'm 5' 9" and buy their Tall trousers.

Whoever said they're awful when they come out of the tumble drier? Er, that's because they've been in the tumble drier! For me, the tumble drier was only ever for underwear and the odd towel. Clothes, no way!

I wear Next jeans - very variable quality to be honest, and I would advise to always go a size smaller. Next jeans ( and all their clothes to be honest) are sized very generously - vanity sizing at its best !
The lift and shape are good and tend to be pretty snug.
The skinnies are ok - I find black/grey/white all keep their shape - the dark blue lose their shape during the day.

I've avoided next jeans for years because of the way they turn enormous after half an hours' wear, but I recently got some black skinnies which are quite good so I thought I'd go back and get the same ones in blue. The size 10 (which fit perfectly in black) had the most enormous waist so I tried an 8, which were dinky and wouldn't go past my thighs. I gave up and went home in a huff.

Glad I'm not the only one! Got two pairs of size 10 high waist skinnies from next. Lighter pair are ok, but darker pair stretch throughout the day and feel so baggy, they also require a belt as they gape at the back. Both pairs have faded around the knee very quickly (due to crawling around on the floor with toddler...). Any recommendations for better brands would be great. I have a small waist but big hips (27/39) so it's a task finding something that fits.

Next jeans are hopeless, go baggy very quickly as most others have said.

I'm a similar shape to you and really rate Tesco jeans, and they are a bargain too!

The relaxed skinnies were the best jeans ever. Then Next changed them and now they are rubbish.

In my experience you need to size down (and they still go baggy after one hour of wearing)

Agree with previous posters. They fit perfectly at the start of the day but stretch out.

I'm a 10 and have bought their relaxed skinnies in an 8 to try to combat this. I end up doing the jeans dance in the morning trying to get them on but by lunchtime they fit perfectly.

I wouldn't buy jeans from them again..

I like their Lift shape &a slim jeans, but agree with a PP - the composition changes, so the feel and fit can vary greatly. Which is really annoying.

Gah! The levis arrived today. I ordered a 30" waist as that's what the pair I have that fit me perfectly are. One pair is way too small, the other is way too big! Why can't these companies make clothes where the inch size is actually the number of inches? I mean, I know I wouldn't then be flattered with my "30 inch waist" but at least it would be bloody easier.

Agree that the Next Lift and Shape jeans have now gone downhill - literally! I recently bought their Deluxe jeans which are great. Composition is that of their old lift and shape range!

Rassy any chance you can link to the deluxe jeans please? Have just tried to search, but can't see which you mean?

Oh really?! Clicky link, please!!

link

I've found these but the composition on my old slim and shape were 66%, 26% polyester and a small % elastane. These are still v high cotton.

Sorry for the delay! They are called Luxe Lift Skinny Jeans! If you search on Next website it brings them up Smile

Does anyone know what makes the jeans stretch out? Which part of the fabric composition?

I've recently bought some of the old lift and sculpt jeans (from the clearance section) and they are 98% cotton. Haven't worn them enough yet to know if they will stretch.

Also are next good at refunds if the jeans are returned for being stretching out (ie faulty)?

The less cotton (and more polyester/elastane) the stretchier! 65% cotton is pretty perfect!

Those luxe ones are the ones I linked to. Much more cotton % than the original lift, slim and shape :(

Berenice I took back a pair of Next Lift and Shape jeans on Saturday, as they were losing shape and the store didn't question me at all. I had worn and washed them twice, still had the receipt and had bought them less than a month ago.

I would have said the higher the cotton content the better. My best, non-baggy jeans are 98% cotton, 2% elastane (sp?)
