Kipling bags - frumpy or not?

Thoughts?

I have seen these on QVC and quite fancied one.

Looking for a day bag, with space for perhaps a book /tablet, water etc. So nothing huge.

I have seen a back pack on sale at a price I am more prepared to pay.

Just can't decide if they are a bit old lady. (I am quite old though)

Not my style. Are they waterproof ?

bloodyteenagers · 17/02/2016 20:38

Mine is. I use it every day in all weathers. At the very bag where straps can go I also have a couple of cloth bags for if I need to pick stuff up on my way home.

Footle · 17/02/2016 20:48

They're the only bags I use, because they weigh nothing, come in nice colours , and I'm used to where things fit inside them.

Footle · 17/02/2016 20:49

Oh, and I don't think frumpy describes me. A bit peculiar, probably.

Mammabrown · 17/02/2016 20:49

Yes they are waterproof, im on the hunt for another because of this thread I am after a summery colour

Mammabrown · 17/02/2016 20:50

I have a teal 1 of yours Euphemia

Footle · 17/02/2016 20:53

And I wouldn't be seen dead with a monkey. Luckily they're detachable.

Mammabrown · 17/02/2016 20:55

I do love a monkey Grin

wizzywig · 17/02/2016 20:59

Totally practical but frumpy in my opinion

MEgirl · 17/02/2016 21:22

I love mine. I have several in various different sizes and shapes. I cant carry a bag on my shoulder much so I like the wide long strap that allows me to sling it across my chest. Some of them have detachable straps so you can carry it just by the handles.

The majority of mine have come from Amazon unless the Kipling shops have had a really good sale on.

HolgerDanske · 17/02/2016 23:13

Yes they are frumpy.

NigellasGuest · 18/02/2016 08:13

So they're not bags to keep cakes in? 🍰🍰🍰

dementedpixie · 18/02/2016 08:13

I am using the patterned one and the other one is used by dd for school

Ugly and overpriced.

101handbags · 18/02/2016 10:18

I have a couple of the larger ones full of pockets etc. that I take on holiday. I wouldn't use them for everyday use or work etc. I think they are more practical than stylish/fashionable. I wouldn't see them as a day to day handbag but great for travelling.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 18/02/2016 10:29

I'm not keen on them and I really dislike the monkey. I think they are quite frumpy, sorry.

MitzyLeFrouf · 18/02/2016 10:31

They look like the kind of bags you'd buy at a market stall. But without the market stall price.

MackerelOfFact · 18/02/2016 10:33

They fall into the same category as 'socks and sandals' IMO.

I tend to assume that anyone using one is a German tourist.

Boutonneux · 18/02/2016 10:35

I don't like them myself, but those who do should have a look on MSE, on the Grabbit board... there's a long, ongoing thread about them, sharing all the best deals and bargains Smile
