How do you stop feet coming out of court shoes ?

Ifonlyiweretaller · 15/02/2016 22:43

I end up gripping with my toes to try to keep them on but my heels just slip out of them. Have tried double sided tape which is okay with bare feet but no good when I have to wear tights. Does anyone have any suggestions?

OP posts:
RuddyHellItsSoftCell · 15/02/2016 22:45

No I can't do it. I have narrow feet and have just accepted loving my t bars.

burnishedsilver · 15/02/2016 23:01

I never had that problem 15-20 years ago but I hear a lot of people complain about it now. I think its to do with how they make tights these days. I mostly wear shoeboots in the winter to avoid the problem. Apparently spraying hairspray on the tights can help.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 16/02/2016 00:37

I can't wear court shoes, my feet are too flat and narrow so there's no way they'll stay on my feet.

I have to wear mary-Jane or tbar styles. with 2 insoles

Balletgirlmum · 16/02/2016 00:39

If you have a high instep like my dd you have to accept you can only wear shoes with a bar across.

You need heel grips!

These gel ones are great :)

I have exactly the same problem OP. Bought a fabulous pair of heeled courts from Ruby Shoo that I love, but they slip off my feet whilst just walking up and down my hallway!

I bought some of these:

Hope the link works. I think they help, not 100% yet as haven't worn the shoes out yet, but from reviews I have read on Amazon, people seem to rate them.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/02/2016 10:10

I have this too, and heel grips don't work, because one of my feet is a whole size smaller than the other. No combo of half insole and heel grips would make up for that :( but I also have very short legs so don't like wearing shoes with straps that cut off my ankles.

Balletgirlmum do you mean high arch? I'm just not sure why the top of the foot being high would cause this. I do have very high insteps and high arches, plus narrow heels, so I'm basically screwed I know!

MadSprocker · 16/02/2016 10:13

Until you could be describing my shoe issues with having to wear two insoles. Wear do you get your shoes from?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/02/2016 10:15

I also have narrow feet and a high arch, and I literally just step out of court style shoes and leave them behind! I have never found anything that works, I just always buy shoes with a T bar or strap.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/02/2016 10:29

Do you all get this with flat shoes too, or is it worse with heels? I want to buy some loafers this spring, but never wear slip on flats because I assume I'll just walk out of them. Should I try?

lamiashiro · 16/02/2016 10:33

I use gel heel grips which work with tights too. It tends to be worse with high heels I think because your foot is being pushed forward.

flowery · 16/02/2016 10:34

I can only wear shoes with a strap. Flats are the same except light ballerina types with elastic at the back. Even those aren't easy to keep on.

It's quite annoying and to make it worse, due to an old injury in between my big and second toe on one foot, I can't wear anything with a toe post either.

I love winter when I can just wear boots all the time and have done with it!

SwedishEdith · 16/02/2016 10:37

High arches here as well. I basically step out of all shoes unless they are strapped to my feet. I try to watch people's feet when they walk in ballet shoes and it's as though they don't flex as much.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/02/2016 10:44

I use ghost straps with one pair that are particularly bad for this.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/02/2016 10:50

How do those attach to the shoe please Polka?

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 16/02/2016 10:52

They look awful! Why don't they at least make them matte??

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/02/2016 10:52

They're like an elastic band, so just stretch under the sole and over your foot.

Lweji · 16/02/2016 10:55

Have you tried gel strips on the back and inside of the heel?
This sort

Those "invisible" straps are just as non-invisible as transparent bra straps. I'd avoid them, tbh.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/02/2016 10:56

I guess because people have different coloured shoes so they need to be clear? I think the flash on that photo doesn't help though, it does look a bit like they're sellotaped on Grin They don't look nearly as obvious in real life.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 16/02/2016 11:13

MadSprocker

Luckily I don't have to wear smart shoes for work so I live in converse day to day and for work I have some elastic back ballet flats from New Look.

Nights out are always difficult though, I want to wear lovely heels but the only pair I ever had that fit well were a pair of Mary Janes from Dorothy Perkins. Unfortunately they've seen better days so I can't wear them now.

I just end up getting whatever fits near enough, put insoles in, add extra holes in the straps and hope I don't have to walk too far.

splodgeness · 16/02/2016 12:00

Me too, high arch and narrow feet, shoes just fling off. Messing around with sticky bits and bobs is no solution for me. Mary Jane T-bars only for me too. Didn't realise there were so many people with the same problem. I guess its because adult shoes are one width only (unlike children's shoes).

Lweji · 16/02/2016 12:14

They will look very obvious in real life for other people. Because the sun or other lights will shine on them too.
Maybe less obvious for those wearing them, perhaps, but certainly for observers from a different view point.

They just look weird.

Balletgirlmum · 16/02/2016 13:14

Don't think it's to do with width as dd has a very wide foot. It's the high instep that's the problem.

Petal02 · 16/02/2016 14:35

I gave up with this issue a long time ago, and now stick to anything with a strap/t-bar. There are loads in the shops this season. And I feel far happier when my feet are strapped/buckled into my shoes, I walk and stand better.
