Selling on ebay. What starting price for a Tiffany cuff bracelet?

I've never sold anything on ebay or at an other auction and want to sell a Tiffany bracelet my much loathed exH bought me years ago. Looking on Tiffany's site it is £730. I have no idea what starting price to go for. There don't seem to be that many of the same ones on ebay at the moment. Any experienced ebayers who can advise please? I don't have a clue. The same ones are buy now prices at around £350, rather than individual sellers by the look of it. TIA

Have you done a "Completed Items" search, as it might throw up some similar ones, to give you a better idea of price?

The way to think about it is - what's the absolute lowest price you'd be happy to accept? Maybe start at £300, to undercut some of the buy-it-nows.

Make sure you price the postage to include insurance/signed for. And if anyone wants to collect it from your house make sure they pay cash NOT Paypal.

Great advice from CointreauV. Just to add re the Paypal collection from home point that if this happens, you have no "proof of delivery". This is important because Paypal will find against you if the buyer is unscrupulous and tries to say that they didn't receive it. With a relatively high value sale, covering your back is definitely worth keeping in mind.

Just be careful that you don't get scammed. A horrible trick is for an unscrupulous person to buy your genuine bracelet and then say its fake. EBay will require them to return the bracelet and they will send you a fake bracelet.

Personally, I would only sell collection only and arrange to meet them in your local bank branch where there are cameras and they pay the cash directly into your bank account, thus avoiding you bei f scammed with fake bank notes.

This is how I've sold high value jewellery.

Please don't waste a banks time or any other public place where you assume they will happily hand over their CCTV footage for something that doesn't concern them. Also the majority of the general public don't have easy access to fake bank notes. This isn't the Italian Job. Be realistic.

Oh wow! ThanksTate. Good to know! I wonder how many people would actually be interested in buying the bracelet under these terms though. If I'm totally inexperienced do you think I might be better not trying to sell it on ebay? I've now checked out completed/sold items of same item and they end up going for around £120 on average.

Also £350 whilst not to be sniffed at, is not high value. People sell cars and caravans on eBay with little trouble and plenty of jewellery and designer goods cost a lot more.

it's good to be aware of scam potential though, esp with no auction experience (apart from buying the odd ebay item).

The idea of paying into a bank is to deter scammers, of course a bank isn't going to hand over CCTV footage.

Unfortunately, fake notes are commonly used by scammers so it is important to be aware of this when receiving cash from a stranger.
