UK based perfume review site that is actually accurate?

What sort of review would you like? If you're after opinions or 'smells like's, have you tried Mrs Gloss and the Goss on FB?

What do you mean by accurate, though? Perfumes can smell very different on people - I've read on this forum someone talking about a particular perfume, saying it's sickly sweet. It's not sickly sweet when I wear it, but it is on them. Which of us is giving an accurate description?

If you want reviews where the reviewer is trained in perfumery school, try Victoria at Bois de Jasmin (she's based in Belgium). Luca Turin is a amateur but has a great way with words and has smelled a lot, read his Perfumes - The Guide and reviews on Style.com/Arabia. Perfume Shrine is a Greek perfume historian, Yesterday's Perfume is American but has written a book on vintage perfumes. Persolaise is UK-based, he's also written a perfume guide, his background is international. If you want an industry insider, Philip Kraft has written a textbook on perfume chemistry - his FB page is very interesting - if your idea of accuracy is having access to a gas chromatograph, he's your man

Nothing's totally accurate as perfume is so individual and we all have our own preferences and biases. It mystifies me why some perfumes are loved when I find them vile but there you go. I like fragrantica but stay within my niche where I know I'll find reviewers who think along the same lines as me.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by accurate either, sorry. I tend to dip into the Perfume book Frugal mentioned, Fragrantica, NST, Bois de Jasmin and Basenotes and take a sort-of average.

Fragrances smell different on me at different times of the month and in different seasons, weather etc so it'd be tough to define an accurate description, even without taking into account other people's chemistry.

All perfume blogs are bound to be subjective. Even the most prestigious blogger can adore a scent that just won't work on me, but I do like a bit of wit so I personally recommended the Candy Perfume Boy and the Scented Hound. I also second all those mentioned by Frugal above

Scent is so personal that it would be impossible to find a blogger that liked exactly the same scent as you. Your preferences are based on personal history, physical make up and memories. Your best bet is to get lots of samples and work out your preferences that way.
