Who is meant to wear what? Per Una? Classic?

( yes inspired by the other thread, but I have always wanted to know )

Per Una- for those who like to look like Stevie Nicks in her frilly gypsy phase.

Classic- your gran, my gran, every bodies gran

Indigo- those who find Fatface/Whitestuff a bit racy

Autograph- people who are aiming for current trends without really understanding them

ZaZathecat · 04/02/2016 12:39

IMHO:

Classic: over 70s
Per Una: 60+ and want to look 'with it'
Indigo: aging hippies like me
Autograph: people with money and a taste for the simple and chic
Limited Edition: dunno.

Akire · 04/02/2016 12:41

Limited edition- the one thing you actually think looks good and the only size available is size 6 or 22

sofato5miles · 04/02/2016 13:14

Love Stevie Nicks but not quite 60.

Given the amount of polyester and acrylic, all the ranges are for people who have no sweat glands.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 04/02/2016 22:29

Lol @ finding fat face racy
Let's not forget speziale- for those who where once told they looked like Nancy del'ollio and took it as a complement

Eastpoint · 04/02/2016 22:32

Your original question made me wonder if you are head of women's clothing at M&S?

sofato5miles · 05/02/2016 03:39

Ha ha! I am 44 year old current SAHM.

What M&S thinks:

Classic: for the smart country senior
Twiggy: for the smart country senior who still likes a heel
Per Una: for the young, and young at heart! (ie, 25-55)
Per Una Speziale: for those special occasions, like weddings, christenings and wedding anniversary cruises
Indigo: for laid back, at home style, ideally 'mums'
Autograph: for the stylish 30something professional
Best of British: for the discerning tweed-wearing patriot

What everyone else thinks:
Classic: is it elasticated? Great!
Twiggy: is it elasticated and a bit 'jaunty'? Fab! (Gear! Groovy! etc)
Per Una: is it ruffled, bedazzled, sequinned, and with a garish butterfly motif? Can you put some more beading on it? Good!
Per Una Speziale: is it all the above but more so, plus a strange slash/plunge to show off my tan? Excellente!
Indigo: is it inoffensive? Fine.
Autograph: what is it?
Best of British: no idea. No one has ever seen a Best of British item outside about four key stores.

I think the Cinderella line in M&S is their M&S Woman range. That's where all the simple basics are hiding from the molto tonto Per Una Speziale clothes

No idea. I used to ignore m&s clothing and waltz right on by to Percy pigs but have been twice this year and have bought two things.

Super soft super stretch super skinny high waisted skinny jeans. In both forest green. And denim. Best jeans ever.

everything else is wierd

CauliflowerBalti · 05/02/2016 09:16

Percy Pig.

This is all anyone needs to know about M&S.

Percy Pig.

Larastheme · 05/02/2016 09:30

And the toffee chocolate eclairs cauliflower

BanningTheWordNaice · 05/02/2016 09:36

It's so sad as in 2006-2008 most of my clothes as a young teenager came from limited collection. Now it just looks like a wannabe topshop.

bigbadbarry · 05/02/2016 09:38

I don't think anybody is allowed to know the answer to this question.

brassbrass · 05/02/2016 09:43

clothes - dunno

chocolate covered brazil nuts is all you need to buy from there

Dashie · 05/02/2016 09:54

Larastheme, I misread that as toffee chocolate eclair cauliflowers! The Per Una Speziale of the vegetable world!

Larastheme · 05/02/2016 11:50

dashie, its the new vegan thing Wink

picked up a few packets recently of the chocolate eclairs in a rush, and It turned out to be the assortment type, with bananas and orange flavours, horrible, and just a couple of the original flavour, ,my family wanted to murder me,Grin we live in country with no M&S ,and have to rely on trips to UK and Paris to get our fix,

oh and I haven't seen the chocolate tea cakes in ages,is it discontinued?

Ifonlyiweretaller · 06/02/2016 20:23

Ironic really that an M&S clothes thread ends up being about their Percy Pigs, tracked etc!! Sums it up really....

candykane25 · 06/02/2016 21:48

The tea cakes are far superior to tunnocks.
The Rosie HW range it so varied, not sure who it is aimed at.
I've thought limited edition was limited collection. So brand awareness isn't great.
The high waisted Jean Jeggings are great but no idea what range they are in.
Indigo - grey and navy in every permutation. Small prints, ribbon trims, lots of cardigans.
Per Una- I only see 60 plus women looking at it a bit doubtfully.
M & S Woman - some of it is very M & S Classic. They do basics but tend to fit weird, be the wrong length.
Autograph- used to be posh but now isn't.
Specials- only ever see a solitary returned to wrong branch item, heavily discounted but still privet, in size 22 that gets rolled out for several sales before disappearing.
M & S Classic - surely this generation is dwindling?

Wolpertinger · 06/02/2016 22:16

Indigo - was nice when it started even though it was embarrassing to buy stuff from it when you were 35 and it was launched by Joan Collins. Anyway, it isn't nice now for any age so can be ignored.
Per Una - was nice for 5 minutes when it started. No-one sets foot in it anymore, they are scared off by the glitter and butterflies.
Per Una Speziale - even M&S don't believe in it and haven't sent it to my city
Autograph - used to be full of smart, desirable office wear. Now full of static inducing fabrics in lurid colours and too short skirts. No idea who wears it.
Limited Collection - what they introduced when Autograph went downhill. Now like Autograph.
Twiggy - doesn't even suit Twiggy
M&S Classic - bought by 2 women aged 102 in each branch. Not changed since 1973. And not the trendy bit of 1973.
