I have had this done in the past at a dentist but want it done again. It is pricey though. Anyone used home whitening kits and are they any good?

Home kits are either too weak to be effective, or if you import one, too strong to be used safely by someone not registered with the GDC.

Whitening at the dentist is expensive but so is paying for treatment when your home attempt goes wrong.

Teeth aren't hair, they have lots of nerves and don't grow back!

Whitening is only allowed to be done by a dentally qualified person. Hairdressers and beauticians who carry out whitening are operating outside the law ( unless they are dentists). they can ( and often do) get prosecuted

I've used Crest Whitestrips a couple of times. Definitely effective (not "Hollywood white" but several shades lighter) and I had no side effects bar a teeny tiny bit of sensitivity which soon disappeared.

I used them only once a day rather than twice as per instructions, so as to reduce any sensitivity. Also used the strips before, rather than after brushing, and used sensodyne.

They are not sold in shops in the UK, but you can buy them online from various places and they've been approved and used in the US for years.

I'm about to use them again in fact.
