What should I ask? Any tips? Dos and donts?
It's with a GP who does it as a sideline and am looking at getting my 11's done gently.

They usually give you a top up/adjustment after 2 weeks. I'm sure everything else will be explained on the day.

One thing I would say is not to put make up on afterwards as it can irritate the injection site

Blondiewoman007 · 01/02/2016 22:58

Not sure there is too much to ask really. The doctor should explain how it works, expected results and possible complications. I've been getting botox off and on for around a decade and haven't had any problems. It takes around two weeks to take an effect so most practitioners will I imagine inject a little less than is needed then you would go back after two weeks for a top up dose. This avoids the 'frozen' look as the dose can be more tailored to your preferences.
I would always go back for a top up after two weeks as it seems to last longer if this is done.
It doesn't last long unfortunately (or fortunately if you are not happy with the results).

Thank you for your thoughts, I feel weirdly ashamed about it, haven't even told my husband or best friends but am excited about the results.

I was terrified the first time I got some but I wouldn't say it was that noticeable. I think it maybe just makes me look a little more rested. The frown lines will disappear.
I wouldn't feel ashamed! I look upon it as an extension of looking after myself/being groomed.

DickDewy · 02/02/2016 19:55

You will love it.

I don't tell anyone either! I just accept all the nice comments about my skin.

Mine takes way before 2 weeks, so perhaps make sure they can see you at short notice (I have one side that needs extra or my eyebrow goes up in the air).

Birdsgottafly · 02/02/2016 20:05

I don't know about just getting '11s' done, but ask what the effect will be on your eyebrow position.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 02/02/2016 22:23

Okay thanks- so ask about rogue eyebrow wondering and expect check up around a fortnight? Turn up with no make up or would I feel majorly under-done esp if she has glam other patients in waiting room and will be looking presumably rather sleek herself?

I know I'm overthinking it Hmm

Not had it but seriously considering it this year. You must come back and tell us how you get on! With before and after photos..! Smile

sweetkitty · 02/02/2016 22:34

I'm really thinking about it I have one deep 11, like a 1 and another half lol.

ReggaeShark · 02/02/2016 22:39

I had it a few weeks ago and now have a flattish lump on my forehead at one of the injection sites. What is that about?

The Pool did an article about it yesterday.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 03/02/2016 18:52

So she was confident but not bolshy/arrogant and left it entirely up to me what or whether I had anything done. She advised that having the 11's (glabellar) by itself can look strange without forehead due to muscle action so I did go for a light bit in forehead as well. I do have horizontal lines there which probably add to the ageing impression.

It was obviously a bit sore during injections but short lived and totally tolerable and I didn't feel like a freak walking out- very slightly pink between eyebrows but nothing else obvious.

I have a follow up booked in a fortnight but she's given me her mobile in case I need to contact her in between.

My main concern is if this gets a bit addictive how one affords it long term and whether it means the gradual slide into fillers and weird looking faces as a result?

I had my 11s done 6 months ago and I'm only just thinking about needing to have them redone...

QuiteLikely5 · 03/02/2016 19:23

Did you bruise from the injections, did you need to hide the following day?

I fancy Botox but this does worry me

Destinysdaughter · 03/02/2016 19:45

How do you look now?

Jmangel · 03/02/2016 21:49

Inandoutoflove what kind of reaction? Hope all ok now.

Gosh it does sound like way too much of a coincidence for it not to have been the Botox. Hope you get off your anti anxiety meds - Botox should be out of your system after around 6 months so maybe you'll be back to normal in a month's time - fingers crossed. Issues like this put me off Botox as you're so right - health more important than vanity. Must keep reminding myself of that when looking at my collapsing face and thinking about caving in and getting stuff done.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 04/02/2016 19:41

Destiny and Quitelikely I had tiny little pinpricks across little bits of my forehead but no one noticed, and no bruises. My frown muscles today feel weird, a bit like I can't do a proper frown, a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. Nothing drastic but do think the 11's less prominent.

Yikes that sounds like an awful reaction, unless it set off acute anxiety? Do hope you feel better soon.

i had my 11s done in may last year a few weeks before i got married. wedding was abroad very sunny & i didnt want my extreme frown that i pull in sunny weather on all of my photos. said it would be a one off but i really liked it, also loved the gentle brow lift it gave & i felt like there was less tension in my face as not sure i realised i frown constantly! Haven't had it done again but would love to. agree furbys about it becoming addictive i can't really afford it regularly tbh.
