Would you wear this top?

Boxy green textured top. It's on sale at Topshop at the moment and I have a voucher which is why I'm countenancing going for it. I'm thinking it would go well with some black skinny jeans and boots. It's £20 down from £59. I'd never consider spending nearly 60 quid on it.

No. Too short and boxy for me, plus I don't like the color.

hugoagogo · 30/01/2016 17:45

It looks draughty to me, you will need a vest.

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 17:54

I can't wear that colour; it makes me look as if I have a liver condition.

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:15

withaspongeandarustyspanner What on earth do you mean re 'liver condition'? What does that look like? Hmm

Symptoms of liver problems can be for example psoriasis, acne rosacea, dermatitis or premature ageing - to name but just a few, but a top, or any piece of clothing for that matter would not exude liver conditions. I can understand that certain colour palettes wouldn't suit certain skin tones but it's never occurred to me that a liver condition sign would be at stake?

What?

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 18:17

I didn't say it gave me a liver condition...Hmm

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:21

withaspongeandarustyspanner I never said it would give you a liver condition. I was asking what such a condition would look like (in this piece of attire) and gave examples of 'looks' that would change based on having a liver condition.

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 18:23

OK - I can't wear that colour. It makes me look ill.

Is that better?

hugoagogo · 30/01/2016 18:24

People suffering from liver conditions are frequently yellowish I think.

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:24

withaspongeandarustyspanner I even stated that in the main it could be a colour palette issue, thus some skin tones don't suit certain colours of clothing. I never said anything about it giving anyone a liver condition - that's why I asked you to elaborate.

Crikey. Have I wandered into 'AIBU'?

vastknapsack · 30/01/2016 18:28

Well that escalated quickly Grin

I know what you meant sponge certain colours make me look slightly jaundiced

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:29

withaspongeandarustyspanner Oh come on! No it doesn't have to be taken as such. I'm not at planning to leave my house with a touch and stake! I just thought it an odd comparison to make r.e. liver without any context. e.g. I cannot wear everything white otherwise I feel like a ghost.

OP posts:
withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 18:32

It was just a throwaway comment. Never expected to have to explain it.

I don't like the shape either Grin

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 30/01/2016 18:33

Blimey, I understood exactly what sponge meant, as I would imagine most other posters would!!

Branleuse · 30/01/2016 18:34

I love the colour, but think the fabric looks horrid and the shape would be unflattering on me, so it really depends on your body shape

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 18:34

Phew. Thought it was me, for a minute. I thought I'd crossed a line...

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:36

withaspongeandarustyspanner Thanks! If you can let me know where you plan to be next week I can organise a style-off in which I walk past you in all the different ways it looks fashionable all week! I'll even come over for dinner wearing it Grin

That is the dullest garment I have ever seen in my life

Wouldn't give 'em tuppence for it

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 30/01/2016 18:41

Carbon thanks for your very kind offer, but I'll pass, I think.

I'm sorry I don't like it. To each their own. And I'm sorry, too, that my comments, more than anyone else's, got up your nose. I'm sure you'll look lovely and a picture of health in it.

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 30/01/2016 18:49

withasponge You don't need to apologise. I haven't even bought the top so it's not like I have a personal stake in it. I just wanted some elaboration. As it happens I'm very familiar with those sort of problems so it did strike me as odd. Thanks for elaborating, and I now do understand where you were coming from. Thanks.

My pleasure.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/01/2016 18:54

No, I can't even work out what it's supposed to be or how it's supposed to fit, it just looks odd.

Floisme · 31/01/2016 00:02

Grin at this thread. The more people dislike it, the more I'm drawn to it.

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 31/01/2016 05:02

Floisme Have you ordered it yet? Don't let the high-school style passive-aggressiveness put you off! Wink
