For me it's those fecking awful leather culottes.

Just shudder-inducingly awful.

I like the blanket scarves. Just don't like the wrap thingies.

Remus do you really like those boots? See, I can see in September I will probably say why did I not buy those boots. Fickle fashion eh?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2016 18:14

I do. They remind me of Whistles boots - I have these and they are beautiful.

AchyMcAcherson · 21/01/2016 18:18

Bloody hell. I've got a blanket wrap thing too. Although it is plain black, no fringing. Not a picnic blanket.
I finally get small enough to wear something other than leggings & tunics and I'm suddenly deeply unfashionable!! Grin

Oldraver · 21/01/2016 18:19

Wooley hats with great big fur pom-poms.

They look twatty, especially if you leave it on in a restaurant

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2016 18:21

I have a pompom hat although it is only for outdoors. I may look a twat, but I am a warm-eared twat.

waitingforgodot · 21/01/2016 18:24

I am rocking the pompom hat and tartan blanket scarf. How uncool am I?? No culottes though

wonderingminds · 21/01/2016 18:33

On the average person all cropped flares are going to look ridiculous.
They even look ridiculous o the models, so there is no hope for anybody, whether slim or fat, short or tall, young or old, looking good in them.

Stay. Away. From. The. Cropped. Flares. For the love of God.

lurkingabit · 21/01/2016 18:43

Those whistle boots are indeed beautiful. Something about the &mother stories boots caught my attention. But I am scarred by mum-boot-syndrome and hesitated so as to avoid catching said syndrome. Grin

Have a pompom hat. Love it.

And despite the above instruction, and in defiance of MN S&B, I'm ready to jump on the cropped flares bandwagon.

I draw the line at knitted leggings/bottoms. Don't give me that they're so comfy bullshit, they're awful

73dexter · 21/01/2016 19:24

I was reading Elle magazine yesterday and apparently big brand logos are back.

'It's the normcore backlash, a postmodern take on brand ownership. As in: we're not slaves to the brand, we're just wearing these iconic, graphically pleasing logos with a huge dollop of irony.'

Errr you can't count me out of that trend thanks Elle!

FishOn · 21/01/2016 19:29

I'm too old to be ironic. I'd just look sad.

Cropped flares are some kind of joke, surely. Even the models look shite in them

Hotpatootietimewarp · 21/01/2016 19:34

I must be a walking crime against fashion then as I love blanket wraps (no fringe or tartan though), have a bobble hat for outside only and love a flowy maxi dress in the summer Grin

Floisme · 21/01/2016 19:34

I'm old and I've got my eye on either some crop wide legs or crop flares. I've been wearing the same kind of stuff for a couple of years now and I'm looking forward to trying out some new shapes. Any new shape looks bonkers the first few times we see it.

The only things I'm saying no to are roll necks, blankety things (too wet where I live) and leather anywhere near my crotch.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2016 19:42

I like roll necks - have been wearing them since I was about 15 and have no plans to stop any time soon!

MoreGilmoreGirls · 21/01/2016 19:42

I'm short so wide legged anything is a no no but those leather monstrosities are the worst thing I've seen in a long time. Ugly wooly tabard things shall also be avoided. Gross

whattheseithakasmean · 21/01/2016 19:53

I hate those tops with cut away/bare shoulders - ridiculous looking & chilly, it is a big 'no' from me.

Also 'no' to cropped flares - I am only 5'1", I don't want my wee leggies to look any stumpier, thanks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/01/2016 19:57

Agree re those cold shoulder tops - and they are invariably in garish colours and cheap polyester too. Not nice.

Hamiltoes · 21/01/2016 19:57

Lace up tops! I've seen a few girls/ younger women with them on for going out. Absolutely horrible!

leccybill · 21/01/2016 20:20

I read in Glamour (at the hairdresser) that overlong structured sleeves are back. Not round here, they're not.
Also, pinafores came and went quickly - I don't want to match my 5 year old, thanks.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/01/2016 20:20

I've been coveting the sleeveless tabard thingey though. I can't do winter coats at the moment (hot flushes) so I reckon the tabard would be like wearing a non clingey wool sandwich board Grin

But maybe I should think on....................I have a cape though ......[ha!]

CreviceImp · 21/01/2016 20:32

amusing article esp the comments 😄

ForalltheSaints · 21/01/2016 21:40

I could make a long list.

I'll just stick with beards on most men, and yes the blanket wraps (often worn by women who should just wear more substantial clothing).

travailtotravel · 21/01/2016 21:44

I have a blanket wrap. Only for wrapping up on the couch, though.

lurkingabit · 21/01/2016 22:45

Funny article Crevice! She kinda doesn't like those button skirtsGrin

Nettletheelf · 21/01/2016 22:56

Those bloody horse blankets look terrible. When masquerading as scarves, I mean.

Also, I read somewhere that everybody will be wearing smart dungarees to work come spring. Not me. The last time I wore dungarees (green velour) I was nine.

1WayOrAnother · 21/01/2016 23:24

Thank fuck for this thread. Thought it was just me.
