Goinf from highlights to block colour?

I've had highlights for years. I've had to cut back on amount spent on hair after having children so now instead of £130 (which I couldn't really afford back then anyway) I pay £30 for a cut and colour in the comfort of my own home.
I've been happy with it and am still really happy with the cut. I'm just feeling a bit stripey. I'm thinking about switching to an all over colour. Is this a bad idea?

Thanks for this feedback. It's really helpful to get different perspectives. Maybe what I need to look at is not so much going to a block colour but at which shades we use for highlights and how thick/frequent etc they are. I couldn't leave it this long between colours and get away with it with a block colour really could I.

I think you feel stripey because your hi lights are so chunky. I'm not saying an all over glossing isn't a bad idea but it may be an idea for you to ask your stylist for fine hilights and more of them. It looks like you've had big sections highlighted to compensate for the lack of foils. You should google fine highlights vs chunky to see what a nice result could be achieved and show your hairdresser the image you prefer.

Thanks for that input. Much appreciated! I'm coming around to thinking that I don't need to move from highlights, but to change the highlights I have.
