What do you all wear? Trying to walk further and for longer so need to get better stuff to wear. Nicer clothes make me feel better about exercise! Grin

I could do with some waterproof walking shoes. What brands are good to go for?

I'm not going to be climbing any mountains so don't need oodles of gear.

I have my brasher goretex ankle boots for when I'm doing long hikes or my Ariat Lakeland leather wellies for standard muddy dog walks.
I love them both.
Very comfortable.
Fully waterproof.
Good quality and stylish

www.landsend.co.uk/ do a good size range, well unless your very slim. i've had the older style (in sale section) squalls, stadium, currently wearing the short down commuter. They have measuments on website it seems to be from nape of neck to hem from past checking, so you can see if it covers butt.

Its worth a look on ebay too as they sometimes go cheaply, i've bought a couple for me (as i've gone from size 22 to 10) & DP under £25 one looked brand new but all in good nick.

Walking boots are no good for me in the wet countryside - I kick mud up the back of my legs when I walk! And I'm not wearing gaiters!

I have a pair of Aigle neoprene lined anti fatigue wellies and they were worth the money - warm and very comfortable even when walking for hours on end.
I had a fab pair of Patagonia sub zero cycling leggings - very warm and comfortable - can"t find the buggers and I don't want to buy another pair if there's any chance of finding them again.
I wear an Arctic Down Parka - I know lots of people find these too warm - but I find them comfortable in most winter temperatures.

I walk dogs for a living and for me my trespass boots are the best! They weren't too expensive, are nice and warm, keep out water a lot better than a lot of other so called waterproof boots and are lightweight - I've worn them for hours and hours of walking every day for months and not had a blister or sore patch.

MENS shoes are not cut for women's feet. With synthetic shoes like Salomons (I've had many pairs) the bacteria in mud ears away at the seams. Leather is best. Modern leather boots like Mammut are often light. I've found Salomon trail shoes though very comfy, mud or not, last about 7 months with daily short distance
