Hair dryers

I have had the same hair dryer since the late 80s, small, light weight, does a good job, powerful. Its great!

On Saturday it broke. New one needed and, although I don't expect it to lat as long, I would like something similar.

Any suggestions?

My GHD dryer literally has changed my hair. MNers swear by Parlux too.

GHD one also gets my vote. No frizzy fly-away bits. Parlux will be my next one for comparison I've heard good things about them.

Since the Eighties, hairdryers have improved considerably! I would look for a light weight one which has the following features;
ceramic (dries hair quicker without getting red hot)
ionic (prevents static)
3 heat/ speed settings
a cool shot setting to set style or give roots some oomph
Also find best to avoid the really thin pointy nozle(?) attatchment..far too fiddly if youre not a professional.

Thanks everyone! All the hairdryers I have used on holiday etc have been rubbish compared to my old cheap one.

I got a parlux compact at Christmas. I haven't been blown away (!) by it tbh. It definitely leaves my hair smoother and shinier but I bought it because I read on here that it reduces drying time, and I haven't found that to be true at all. Perhaps you need the full sized ones for that, but I needed a lighter one too so they were ruled out.

I'm using my old faithful Babyliss one and then finishing off with the parlux. The Babyliss one is definitely the best I've used. It's 2200-2400 watts, Bellissimo and I think it was about £60 4 years ago.

That's probably no help but if you want a parlux for sped and lightness I wouldn't get it. Less heat damage and less frizz it's worth a go. Especially if you have fine or shorter hair. (I don't which is also perhaps why it was a little disappointing for me.)
