Relaxing candles that smell fabulous and last, where can I find them?

I've tried many different candles and have found that most have a synthetic smell that doesn't last for long. I want a lovely relaxing scent, that burns bright and lasts.

What ones do you use?

Neom are lovely. But a good value (well relatively) range is Isle of skye candles. Burn beautifully and they last well. Reed diffusers are great too.
If you subscribe or follow them on Facebook they do discounts.

Agree that Neom are the nicest but hard to justify the cost!

The Parks ones (which I've only ever seen for sale in TK Maxx) drive me mad because the wicks are rubbish. They ALWAYS collapse into the candle.

I had a Miller Harris one from TK Maxx - coeur de fleur - and found it very disappointing. Could hardly smell it.

The nicest candle I've ever used is M&S green fig. Just gorgeous.

Melt or St Eval Candle Company are both reliable and smell good.

HarrogateMum · 03/01/2016 19:14

Harrogate candle company candles! Not biased by fact they are from my home town they smell divine and last ages. My favourite is dark amber and sandalwood or rock rose and pink pepper. Fairly certain you can get them nationwide now.

I normally avoid cheap scented candles as they tend to smell like toilet cleaner.

However, I bulk buy Frankincense and myrrh candles from Sainsburys and M&S at Christmas.
I also rate the grey coconut and lime candles from Ikea.

rubyflipper · 03/01/2016 19:22

My local TKMaxx has Miller Harris candles for £20.

Another vote for Neom here. A 3-wick candle lasts about 8-10 weeks in this house.

I have got plenty from TK Maxx too (and Neom body products). However, I don't think the scent is a sharp...maybe the age of candles. Still wonderful though.

Hadron21 · 03/01/2016 19:26

This Works candles from TK Maxx are great - £12 at the moment.
I was gifted a Jo Malone travel candle recently and it's lovely. A real luxury.

Oliver Bonas are lovely, especially the fig one. I also like John Lewis own brand, they smell really nice and are a tenner.

Notonaschoolnight · 03/01/2016 21:26

I've tried about 10 melt candles favourites so far are saddle and verbena and clary sage

buildingamystery · 03/01/2016 21:37

Love Neom, Max Benjamin, Paddywax, Jo Malone, Wood Wick and, surprisingly, Paperchase. Have all the above on the go on alternate days.Smile

MilkAndFenty · 03/01/2016 21:38

Diptique, white company and I've heard jo Malone are good but I've personally never had one. Going to try neom now- never heard of them before I read this thread!!

MilkAndFenty · 03/01/2016 21:40

Neom are lovely and last for ages.

I was given a Prices Vanilla and Lemon one a while ago and it is one of the nicest ones I have ever smelt.

Satsunday · 04/01/2016 09:35

I like Espa candles. Their soothing one is lovely. They were in the sale online last week so worth a look.

Mansefield · 04/01/2016 09:45

I second the espa candles. I've got the restorative one and is lovely. It's full of relaxing essential oils. Along with the restorative body oil and bath oil, is a real pamper session and treat!

LoadsaBlusher · 04/01/2016 21:25

McKelvie Candles - 100% natural oil and beautiful range of fragrances.
I also love Lily Flame candles especially the Angel Dust one.

fiorentina · 04/01/2016 21:32

I love candles from Anthropologie or White Company. I also used to buy a lot of lily flame candles but haven't seen them recently.

geekaMaxima · 04/01/2016 22:06

True Grace candles - lots of places have them online but I've also seen them in John Lewis.

Beautiful vegetable soy wax with really intense fragrances that last and last and last. Mmm. I've tried others but nothing else is near as good for preserving its fragrance to the last burn.

The tins are best value at about £16 for 40 hours burn time, but the glass ones look a lot fancier Smile
